They’re indeed one of the most well-loved personalities and families in showbiz nowadays. But more than endearing us with their adorable bond as a family that they showcase on-cam and on social media, there’s actually a lot more to love about Team Kramer.
Host Chesca Garcia-Kramer and retired basketball player Doug Kramer got married on October 9, 2008 after dating for five years. A year after, they gave birth to their firstborn Kendra in 2009, and was followed by Scarlett in 2011 and by Gavin in 2013.
Both popular in their respective fields, it was seemingly difficult for the couple to keep their children away from the limelight. Thus, they simply used their influence and platform in order to inspire other parents out there, especially the new and young ones, in raising their own kids well.
They established their YouTube channel in 2014, and have been known since then as “Team Kramer”. Through this platform, they’re able to give us a glimpse of their wonderful bond through their vlogs, in which they share snippets of and milestones in their life.
In their Magandang Buhay interview in 2019, we’re able to get to know them better as they welcomed the momshie-hosts in their cozy and gorgeous abode. Even though all their three kids are home-schooled, Doug and Cheska make sure to let them explore and learn different things, which include household chores.
Despite their young age and being well-off, Chesca Garcia-Kramer proudly related during her Magandang Buhay guesting last March how her and husband Doug Kramer are able to train their kids Clair Kendra, Scarlett Louvelle, and Gavin Phoenix to be adept in household chores.
“‘Yong mga anak ko, magaling ‘yan gumawa ng chores. Pero siyempre, kailangan n’yong utusan, minsan kusa, ‘di ba? Kailangan mong utusan, kailangan mo talagang i-train. Si Scarlet, magaling magluto, magaling mag-bake. Si Gavin naman, kaya niyang mag-pick up ng mga gamit niya at talagang ibalik properly katuald ng pagkaayos ko. Lagi kong sinasabi, ‘O, ibabalik n’yo the way I returned it, ha? Hindi ‘yong ilalagay lang nila d’yan’,” she imparted.
Then she shared how such a dependable and responsible ate their firstborn is not just at their home, but to her younger cousins, too.
She continued, “Si Kendra naman, magaling din siyang tumabi sa akin at manood. Pero huwag ka, siya ‘yong taga-abot ng mga gamit…Pero ang magaling kay Kendra is magaling siyang magturo sa mga kapatid niya, magaling siyang mag-tutor. Kahit wala ako do’n, kaya niyang mag-teach ng lahat ng subjects…at magaling siyang magbantay ng maliliit niyang mga pinsan. Tapos tinuturuan niya ‘yong mga pinsan niya na magbalik ng mga toys where it’s supposed to be.”
Aside from being able to do a few household chores, they’re also able to inculcate good manners and right conduct to them, which they’re able to immediately apply at very young ages. Chesca proudly disclosed in their 2019 Magandang Buhay interview how Scarlett willingly donated a portion of the money she earned to one of their nannies, whose daughter was about to celebrate her 18th birthday then.
While they’re already a picture of a happy family of five, Chesca revealed that she and Doug have been actually planning and praying to have their Baby #4 for years now. Since she’s already ligated after suffering from health problems during their last two pregnancies, they decided to undergo IVF (in vitro fertilization), which, unfortunately, has failed thrice.
That really broke their hearts and although they’re still hopeful and longing to have one and make Gavin a “kuya,” Chesca told the momshie-hosts that they’re setting it aside for now.
