They seem inseparable even at that grand moment when Marcelito was about to show the world his breathtaking dual tenor-soprano voice, and the judges even thought she was part of the act.
But Joan clarified that she was only there to support her husband, whose journey from being an abandoned street castaway to captivating the world audience with his distinctive talent was nothing short of inspiring.
And when Marcelito brought the house down and left the audience and the judges in awe, after singing “The Prayer,” Joan was in tears, so proud of her husband who has showed the world the best of what he can do.
It was definitely a touching sight—two people standing together through thick and thin, no matter what.
It was a love story that began nine years ago, when Joan, a daughter of a local businessman in Calauag, Quezon, met him during the golden wedding anniversary of her parents. Joan’s aunt brought Marcelito, then a fresh grand winner in Pilipinas Got Talent, to the festivities to sing for the celebrants.
Their connection was instant and magical, and they would soon fall in love. On September 21, 2014, they walked down the aisle in a grand wedding celebration. They have a daughter, Marcella Janiah.
In an interview with the Magandang Buhay momshies, Marcelito paid tribute to his wife for never leaving his side, and always supporting him whatever happens. Joan said she will always be there for him, wherever he goes—even if he would remain a popular entertainer or not.
