It was in the latter part of April this year when veteran actress Sunshine Dizon signed with ABS-CBN and officially became a Kapamilya. In her interviews, she shared how overwhelming everything has been, especially the warm welcome of the Kapamilya network for her.
And almost two months since her unexpected transfer, she finally had her first-ever guesting in Magandang Buhay, where she shared her experiences with the tapings that she had so far for the upcoming series Marry Me, Marry You topbilled by fellow ABS-CBN newcomer Janine Gutierrez and Paulo Avelino. She began by describing that it has been a “super duper happy set” and that the cast members really went out of their way to bond. As they’ve spent a lot of time together, it made her feel that they are indeed a family.
Starting her career in showbiz as a child star, the 37-year-old actress reminisced her journey as an actress. According to her, her mom used to work as a film producer and whenever her mother would participate in events, Sunshine would always be present, too. She was later on discovered by producers and hired her to become part of God’s Little Children when she was still three years old.
Aside from her incredible acting chops, her good photographic memory, which enables her memorize dialogues easily, is probably one of the secrets behind her compelling portrayals. However, she admitted how actually bad she is when it comes to names, numbers, addresses, and faces at the same time.
A well-known kontrabida who never fails to make everyone frightened, she shared that it was the late showbiz icon Eddie Garcia who actually taught her the trick in effectively doing slap scenes.
She may have done a lot of roles throughout her three-decade career, but the biggest and most important role she plays is being a dedicated and loving mom to her children Doreen and Anton. Both a disciplinarian and a spoiler, she confessed how hard it is for her to not give in to the requests of her children since she doesn’t have much time for them because of her hectic schedule at work.
Prior to the pandemic, she would actually bring her kids to tapings for them to know what she’s doing at work and to understand that she has to work hard so they can earn enough. When she and her ex-husband separated, she refused to let the situation affect their children and their relationship with their dad. Thus, until now, the actress’ ex-partner and their kids still bond and spend time together.
And of course, two of Sunshine’s dearest friends in showbiz, Karylle and Iza Calzado didn’t miss the chance to surprise her in this episode of Magandang Buhay and talk about their friendship. When asked how she can describe her, Karylle stated, “She loves her kids so much. She’s very encouraging and inspiring as a friend.” On the other hand, Iza regards her as “solid”, adding that Sunshine is very loving to her kids, very nurturing, very caring, and “a ray of sunshine in our lives”.
In return, Sunshine expressed that she feels very blessed to have friends like Karylle, Iza, and Diana Zubiri too, saying, “It’s so nice to be in a group where everyone respects each other’s individuality”.
Sunshine will star in the upcoming Kapamilya series Marry Me, Marry You, which will be topbilled by Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez.
