Nothing compares to a father’s love for his children.

That kind of selflessness, responsibility, concern and care has been deeply felt by the kids he treasures, especially those children particularly close them—those daddy’s boys and girls who had savored that special bond or connection with him.

Here are some celebrities who spoke to Magandang Buhay about this undying love they felt from the most important men in their lives, their fathers.

 

Maxene Magalona on Popshie FrancisM

Who would deny that special closeness Maxene Magalona had with his late dad, Master Rapper Francis Magalona.  They seemed inseparable, as evident in those shows they appeared together.

But in this interview on Magandang Buhay before she tied the knot with husband Rob Mananquil in 2018, Maxene spoke about what she will miss about her dad as she would exchange vows with Rob,

“Ever since nawala si Papa tapos mag-aattend ng wedding, yung mga father-daughter dance, yun ang mga di mo mapigilan na ma-miss si Papa pati yung pag nakita mo down the aisle. Siyempre nakakalungkot pero ganoon talaga. But, then talaga sobrang ma-mimiss ko yon. That’s one of the things na maiisip ko on my wedding day. Close kasi kami ni Papa,” she said.

However, Maxene said she and her siblings had grown closer to each other since Francis M’s passing, especially since that was always his fervent wish. She adds she still “talks” to her dad, especially in her lowest moments.

When I pray, nag-pepray ako sa kanya…lalo na pag moments na feeling mo di mo na kaya. One of the things I do is to talk to him because feeling ko ang dad ko napakalakas niyang tao. Idol siya na ng lahat pero ako pinaka-idol ko siya talaga.”

 

Kylie Verzosa on Popshie Ari

For the beauty queen-turned-actress Kylie Verzosa, the first man in her life has certainly been her rock ever since. And of course, she would rely on him for guidance in everything that she does, even in the way she would handle relationships, especially with her current flame Jake Cuenca.

“Masasabi kong 100% Daddy’s Girl ako,” she said with Popshie Ari beside her and boyfriend Jake.

“Siya ang una kong hinahanap pag may problema ako..sa career o business pati mga problems ko with boys. Siya ang nilalapitan ko,” she stressed, while clarifying she never said anything bad about Jake to her Popshie, who had since accepted their relationship.

 

Markus Paterson on Pophsie George

Rising actor Markus Paterson shared a special bond with his UK-based dad George after spending his growing years with him while his mom went to the Philippines to oversee their farm.

With Popshie George, Markus would enjoy things that he would really love to like swimming and gymnastics as he was always there to support him.

“We did everything together,” Markus said. “He supported my football, mga hilig ko. Swimming gymnastics. We spend a lot of time together.”

Markus said he really to see his Popshie again very soon after seeing a recorded message from him onscreen expressing his continued support to his son’s current career as an artist.

“Dad I hope I’ll see you soon. I hope I’ll have time with you guys in England. I love you see you soon,” he said.

 

Zeke Sarmenta on Popshie Romnick

For Zeke Sarmenta, having a hands-on dad like Popshie Romnick Sarmenta, she would appreciate the time and the attention she gets from him.

And of course, not only Romnick a good father, he has always been her best friend since they were younger.

“Simula nung bata pa ako, si Daddy na ang best friend ko. Parang kahit ano pwedeng ikwento ko sa kanya. Pagnahirapan ako, nandoon lang siya. Pag kailangan kong umiyak, nandoon siya,” she said.

Zeke even shared a time she was heartbroken, when she woke him up in the wee hours of the morning to get those words of comfort from him.

Yun ang di ko makakalimutan ever. Kasi yun ang parang 2:43am. Sobrang low ko talaga. Hindi ko alam kung sino ang pwede kong kausapin. So pumunta ako sa kwarto nila. Ginising ko si Papa. Sabi ko, Pa kailangan ko ng kausap. Sabi niya sige, sige. Tapos pumunta siya sa kwarto ko at nag-usap kami ng half an hour, an hour. It was the comfort that I needed at that time,” she recalled.

Best of all, Popshie Romnick would reiterate what she means to him

“At may sinabi siya sa akin na di ko makakalimutan ever. Sabi niya sa akin, Zeke you are my princess so you deserve to be treated like the queen you were meant to be,” Zeke said.

 

Yassi Pressman on Popshie Ronnie

Yassi Pressman only has endearing, vivid memories of her late Popshie Ronnie in this interview in 2016, wherein she disclosed those memorable moments with him.

“Si Daddy kasi kahit 87 [years old] siya, para ko siyang best friend, parang barkada as in. Simula sa first crush, favorite color, favorite food, kung anong nangyayari sa school, gano'n 'yong mga [kwentuhan],” she said.

Yassi also said Popshie Ronnie would accompany her every time she invited him to accompany her in her gigs, be it at work, a pool club or even her mall shows. He would also drive for her and become a hands-on father. No wonder, Yassi truly is a Daddy’s Girl.

 

Kim Molina on Popshie Ronnie

For the singer-actress Kim Molina, only one person could bring her to tears. And that is her Popshie Ronnie, who currently lives in Saudi Arabia.

Kim, who lived in the kingdom previously with her parents had pursued a showbiz career in the Philippines after winning a talent competition. And since the start of her showbiz journey, Kim would always long for her dad, to the point that when she needed to release a bucket of tears for a scene in her movie Jowable, the only way was to make a video call to Popshie Ronnie.

“Daddy’s Girl po talaga ako na hanggang ngayon, iniisip niya seven years old pa lang ako,” Kim told the momshie hosts in this interview.

After seeing a video message from her Popshie onscreen, wherein he congratulated her for her rising showbiz career and told her she was behind her all the way, Kim would again shed tears. “Wala sobrang miss ko si daddy,” she said.

“Thank you po Dad kaya pala nung huli di nya ako mine-message. Thank you for always being there for me even if nandoon ka sa malayo tapos sa Internet na lang tayo nag-uusap,” Kim further imparted.

 

Djanin Cruz on Popshie Tirso

Tirso Cruz III’s only daughter, who is actually his youngest child, Djanin is his precious favorite.

And the Magandang Buhay momshies would ask Djanin to confirm it. She would only remark in jest: “Yes, wala siyang choice.”

In this interview on Magandang Buhay, Tirso would admit Djanin is his favorite being the only girl in his brood of three and that her being “delicate” was something that made him extra protective of her.

Djanin would also spend fun moments with her dad, including a cute video of them reenacting a scene from The General’s Daughter, which Tirso starred as the ruthless Heneral Tiago.

Here, we see them shifting roles, with Djanin uttering Tirso’s famous line as Tiago in the show, saying “Konti pa” to her dad asking Angel Locsin’s question as Rhian: “Proud ka ba sa akin?”
