She went on a hiatus from show business in 2015, but even though she was MIA, Rufa Mae Quinto still had an eventful life. She got married to Filipino-American partner Trevor Magallanes. The comedian also gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Alexandria Athena.
Now, it is back to work for the new mom. Just last year she made her debut on the Kapamilya network as Lia from Home Sweetie Home. While she blended in perfectly with the weekend sitcom’s family, Rufa Mae particularly found a sister in Toni Gonzaga which only makes sense.
On cam, Julie and Lia quickly became amigas as two women trying to raise their daughters. Off set, they continued to bond through their pregnancy and now as mothers. Even their kids are slowly becoming besties. In one of Rufa’s Instagram post she said, “Napakasaya mga anak namin super playmates.” In fact, they even agree that their kids look alike, which doesn’t come as a surprise after the stories she shared on Tonight with Boy Abunda.
When Toni and Rufa were pregnant they were often at Mariel Rodriguez’s place, “Lagi kaming nakikikain,” she explained. Whenever the It’s Showtime host had parties like baby showers, Toni and Rufa were always present and never strayed far from the buffet table, “Balik kami nang balik sa buffet.” The then baby bump buddies started off their friendship like this and it proved to be a strong foundation.
During the interview, Rufa also mentioned that Toni was not only a a great mother but also a sweet daughter herself, especially because she is God-fearing, “Sobrang bait niyang tao.” Without a doubt, it’s truly home sweet home for Rufa in her new family.

Meanwhile on Magandang Buhay, Toni shared they even before being partners in cry at almost every buffet, they were both part of a Bible study with Piolo Pascual. At the time, Rufa was still new to having a relationship with God. One of the things that Piolo talked about was giving up everything for Him. This prompted the comedian to ask Toni, “Ano ba ‘yang sinasabi ni Piolo? Kasama ba ‘yong mga Louis Vuitton na bag?”
This wasn’t the only time they were busy chatting during one of their group sessions. There was even an instance when the actor asked them to create a new group of their own, to which Rufa would respond with, “Forgiveness naman.”
Their friendship was also what gave Rufa a chance to meet Alex Gonzaga. When the younger Gonzaga was feeling heartbroken, Rufa came over to their house hoping to cheer her up. Alex is in a happier place now, but Rufa still had some advice for her, “Ibigay mo sa love life mo kung ano ‘yong kaya mong ibigay”. Hearing all their stories, surely Rufa is a certified sister from another mother.
