Throughout the four successful years of Magandang Buhay, a lot of personalities, celebrities and ordinary people alike, graced the program not just to bring good vibes and inspiration, but to warm our hearts through their anecdotes as well.
But among those who appeared on the morning show, there were six who arguably surprised us the most.
Currently among the biggest stars of a rival network, Alden Richards truly delighted the Kapamilya viewers with his appearance on Magandang Buhay to promote his first-ever collaboration with Star Cinema, Director Cathy Garcia-Molina, and Kathryn Bernardo – the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all-time “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”
He started off by disclosing how overwhelmed he was to be on the program and went on to recall his first-ever encounter with Momshie Karla Estrada way back in 2010 when she helped him resolve a small problem of his despite only meeting for the first time.
The 28-year-old actor then went on to impart about his whole experience in doing the movie, as well as how his friendships with his leading lady and the rest of the cast bloomed when they were still in Hong Kong. Besides, he also shared an emotional moment with Kathryn and Direk Cathy as they conveyed how grateful they were to one another.
A few months after, another famous figure from the competing network dropped by the morning show to join her co-actor Carlo Aquino in the romantic flick “Isa Pa With Feelings”– Maine Mendoza.
Since their movie followed the story of two different people who’d been accustomed to live by themselves most of the time due to varied reasons, they mostly talked about their both being introverts, which was supported by elaborate explanations from psychologist Sir Tofi de Jesus.
Aside from that, the two also revealed to whom they draw the strength they’re able to muster ever since they began their career in the local entertainment industry. While she’s uncertain of her source of confidence as a whole, but Maine told the momshie hosts that in this project, her self-confidence came from Carlo.
“Ako, ‘di ko alam kung saan. Pero dito sa pelikulang ‘to, kay Carlo,” she said as Momshie Melai Cantiveros shrieked because of immense kilig. “Parang pinapa-feel niya kasi sa akin kapag nasa eksena kami, kapag nasa set kami, na hindi ako dapat kabahan at hindi dapat ako mahiya. Tapos sobrang tinutulungan niya ako.”
Unlike her two fellow rival network talents we’ve already mentioned in this feature, versatile sexy actress had been on Magandang Buhay twice. The first one was in 2017, as she and co-stars Vhong Navarro and Cora Waddell joined forces to promote their comedy flick “Woke Up Like This,” while the latest was last October 2019 alongside Rita Avila and Lindsay Custodio for the program’s Halloween special.
Her latter guesting was highly emotional than the first one as she reminisced the memories she had with her late father, King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe Jr., as well as how his life left a huge impact on her and to the people around her. She also divulged that her best friend Heart Evangelista also used to dream about her and her dad, wherein she saw them sharing a really touching moment.
All eyes may be on him every time he rides the tides on his surfboard, but Siargao-based professional surfer and Andi Eigenmann’s partner Philmar Alipayo was obviously still feeling uneasy as he appeared on the morning program to surprise the actress who was the special guest for that day’s episode.
The surprise was indeed a success as she admitted not really expecting to see him soon due to his other commitments, more so to reunite with him on live television. Aside from enthusiastically sharing their unknown love story and how their life had been as a family in Siargao, they also warmed our hearts with their kilig exchange of sweet messages.
Another non-showbiz personality to grace Magandang Buhay was Jam Ignacio, the beloved beau of momshie-host Karla Estrada, who she proudly introduced to the public last year.
Right from the moment that her co-hosts called him to join them, she wasn’t able to contain her kilig anymore. While he’s not keen in appearing on TV, he made an exception for Karla’s birthday and even willingly divulged how and when their beautiful affair started, as well as how he looked past her superstar status as he perceives her as an ordinary person like him. At the same time, our beloved momshie also disclosed what made her decide to give love another try amidst her previous heartbreaks.
He ended his guesting in a very thrilling note by delivering his sweet birthday message for her, saying, “Maging masaya lang siya. Gawin niya kung ano ‘yong ikakasaya niya kasi ‘yon naman talaga ang dapat. ‘Di ‘yong gagawin niya lang dahil gusto ng ibang tao.”
Then he added, “Lagi ko ngang sinasabi sa kanya na lagi akong nagpapasalamat sa Taas na dumating siya sa buhay ko. Parehas kasi kami na naging masaya kami sa maling tao. Ano pa kaya ‘yong sa tama.”
Juan Miguel Salvador
In a very rare opportunity, we were able to get a glimpse of the seasoned band vocalist Juan Miguel Salvador on television when he dropped by Magandang Buhay in April to join the birthday celebration they prepared for his daughter, young actress Janella Salvador.
Apart from delivering his birthday wish and gift (which was a ring!) for her, he touched our hearts as well when he told the momshies how proud he is of her for being able to make a name for herself in the local entertainment scene.
“I’m very proud of her kasi hindi lang ‘yon e, ang dami niyang achievements. At a very young age, she reconnected with God and she strengthened her relationship with the Lord. I’m also a Christian, and so are a lot of us. So, ‘yon e, we have that in common. I’m very proud of you for doing that as such a young age,” he related. He imparted that it was actually the first time he told her that, which made that moment extra touching.
Popshie Juan Miguel and Janella also delighted us with their on-the-spot duet of Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis’ “Cruisin’”.
In 2017, Dingdong Dantes, another superstar from a rival network graced the morning program to promote the Star Cinema flick “Seven Sundays” that he top-billed alongside veteran actors Ronaldo Valdez and Aga Muhlach and seasoned thespians Cristine Reyes and Enrique Gil.
He enthusiastically recounted his unforgettable childhood memories, sharing how he used to play on the streets, have a callsign with his playmates, and join basketball just like normal kids do. Momshie Karla also shared seeing him and his playmates as children since they used to be neighbors.
The 40-year-old actor also imparted his journey in becoming part of the popular dance troupe Abztract Dancers in his teenage years.
There’s no doubt that Mimiyuuuh is indeed among the most popular stars on the internet and, finally, he’s able to unveil the story behind his truly iconic and unique screen name through his guesting on the show in July 2019 and even had the momshie-hosts pronounce it too!
Moreover, the online sensation, whose real name is Jeremy Lomibao Sancebuche, also revealed how he actually gets ashamed to shoot his videos in the presence of his family; thus, he’s usually seen doing his vlogs inside his room.
The fashion designer-vlogger went on to impart the inspiring story on how he’s able to finish his education through the all-out support and hardwork of his parents, the help of a relative, and his own perseverance as well by working as a student assistant at De La Salle - College of St. Benilde.
