Being in front of the cameras since she was 2 years old, the life of Alexa Ilacad had always been a big balancing act. Once, she juggled college life and a major primetime teleserye, and finished both with flying colors. Now she has guestings and projects left and right, but Alexa still has time to maintain real friendships and maybe discover a new romance.
In this episode of Magandang Buhay The Podcast, Alexa opens up about her vibrant career and recent achievement – how she worked hard and prayed hard for them. Plus, what friendship means to her.
Alexa started as a commercial model at the age of two. Shortly after, she would step into the world of showbiz. But her path to stardom would be long and slow. While others would just take a detour, the “Run To Me” star stayed the course without questioning herself or her journey. And all those years waiting and praying armed with a hopeful attitude make what she has now even sweeter.
Through it all, she worked on her other goal to finish her studies, which she did last year, without using her ‘artista’ status for privilege. She had rather pushed herself (sometimes she’d doze off on the gym bleachers) than hear “artista kasi” comments at school. Now she has every right to be proud of the fruit of her tenacity – a Marketing degree and Dean’s Lister recognition.
What completes the sweet life of Alexa is having friends, few but solid, to enjoy her journey with. Recently, thanks to her Pinoy Big Brother stint, she has found KD Estrada and Shanaia Gomez, both of whom she confides in.
Listen to the podcast as the trio talk about their friendship. Plus, some ‘Marites’ moments about KDLex courtesy of hosts Jolina Magdangal, Melai Cantiveros, and Regine Velasquez. Alexa’s Mommy Dina, the one who’s been there as she flips the script page by page and her life story chapter by chapter, also expressed how proud she is of Alexa.
The unapologetically real Alexa will inspire you to do whatever it takes to get your dreams all the while keeping a solid support system to keep the journey a little less daunting. In Alexa’s words, “I may not have so many friends but the friends I keep close to my heart are the ones that really matter and the real ones talaga.”
