She has certainly come a long way since stepping out of Kuya’s house. Kapamilyas have seen her invade the big and small screens with one project after another. Recently, we even caught her strutting the runway like a supermodel in the making. Underneath all the fame and fortune, however, Maymay Entrata still remains honest to herself and her fans.
There are still those fangirl moments whenever her favorites like KathNiel are around. She is not shy to make crazy faces in photos because that is just who she is. More importantly, Maymay is proud of where she came from and knows that it’s her fans who propelled her to where she is now. So, how does she stay humble? Without a doubt the limelight is blinding, but in Magandang Buhay she revealed that her secret is going back to her roots.
Maymay talked about how she has changed for the better since entering the world of show business. She is happy and feels that she has adjusted to living in the public eye. Above all, she finally realized who among the people around her are being true. “Mas clear na sa akin kung sino talaga ‘yung dapat kong pasalamatan, dapat kong pagkatiwalaan,” she explained.
She also shared how everything that has happened has only made her stronger. “Ngayon, mas palaban ako,” she boasted. Maymay is more confident about taking on new challenges and facing any problems that come her way, “Masasabi ko talaga sa sarili ko na kaya ko.”
On the other hand, when she is at home, nothing much has changed. She still prefers eating with her hands. Maymay even recounted how at one fancy event, she mistook the soupspoon for the tablespoon. Luckily, Edward Barber is there to guide her when she feels lost.
“Kaya ‘pag nasa bahay na ko, ‘yun na ‘yung time para ibuhos ko ‘yung kung sino ako,” she continued. She has a rule that they should still speak Bisaya, “Para hindi pa rin mawala ‘yung kung sino ako dati.” Plus, she keeps in touch with all her old friends.
This is not always easy, sometimes her brain needs a break. So, earlier this November, she revisited her hometown. The moment she saw her grandmother, she was quickly reminded about where it all began. It was that easy. “Punta ka lang sa pamilya mo, mawawala lahat ‘yung mga problema mo,” Maymay admitted.
