The madling people have already met Ate Girl’s mom, Luisa, and one of her older brothers, Kiko, earlier this month on It’s Showtime. It was a special day because their visit only added more kilig to Vice Ganda and Ate Girl’s tandem. But how is the rest of her family?
These photos show nothing but big smiles from a sister goofing around with her big brothers. And a mom that is always standing proudly by their side. During the Yuletide season they would wear matching Santa hats, sometimes they would get all dolled up in matching Filipinianas for an event, or just spontaneously decide to go outside and have an impromptu photoshoot. They could be models of the perfect family. Except for the fact that there is one man that seems to be missing in majority of the photos.
On Magandang Buhay, Jackque Gonzaga talked about how her father has been absent most of her life. Florencio Gonzaga Jr. works as a musician on a cruise which is why he only comes home around summer. Because of this, he missed a lot of Ate Girl’s performances when she was a cheerleader and a member of a dance troupe.
This wasn’t a problem when she was still a kid. In fact, they were very close at the time. But they eventually grew apart and she grew up without him. Despite the distance, they still tried to communicate as often as possible. Technology wasn’t as advanced back then as it is today, so her father could only contact them via a payphone.
To this day, they only see their father once a year. And it’s even harder for them to be a complete family now because some of Jackque’s older brothers also work overseas now. Which is why this year’s Holy Week was extra special. The family got together after so long for her fourth brother’s wedding. This was their chance to finally take their first ever family photo, “dati po ‘yong family picture namin mga pinagdikit-dikit na 1x1,” she admitted. So, as busy as they are with their own lives, their family would always manage to find time for each other.
