With an amiable face, effortless hair plus simple yet trendy fashion sense, she belongs in front of the camera. Seeing Winnie Wong on Instagram, you would not think twice about double tapping her photos. The blend of colors and the lighting make them eye-catching. And her look always matches the backdrop. Each shot is worthy of a spreadsheet on a magazine. But she seems to have found comfort behind the scenes.
Celebrating her Gold Play Button from YouTube, Alex Gonzaga shared on Magandang Buhay how her channel started with the help of Winnie.
Despite working in the Kapamilya Network, she never felt confident seeing herself on television. One of the main reasons is because she thought that there was more she could offer to the viewers. And knowing that her friends enjoyed her sense of humor, the Alex hoped that other people would too, “May gusto kong ipakita sa kanila na feeling ko ma-appreciate nila, kasi na-appreciate ng mga kaibigan ko.”
Before being an official vlogger, the actress was already uploading one-minute videos on Instagram featuring her nephew Seve. Seeing people enjoy them, she realized that YouTube would be a great platform, “Bigla lang pumasok sa isip ko.”
Initially, she asked her Ate Toni Gonzaga to be part of it, “Kasi baka walang manood ‘pag ako lang.” But the Home Sweetie Home star did not think it would suit her personality. Although, she did ask husband director Paul Soriano to shoot the videos.
Because Alex was not techie at the time, Winnie kindly volunteered to set up everything for her from the email address to designing the logo. “’Pag ngayon naiisip ko, parang God’s will ‘yon,” Alex admitted.

And although the two ladies have different personalities, they managed to create a solid sisterhood. Alex is especially glad because even though Winnie is a classy and a bit posh, “Kahit walang subtitle, funny ako sa kanya.”
Now, it is not just on YouTube that they have worked together. As a graphic artist, Winnie created all the illustration and cover of Alex’s book, “Sa book two ko, siya nag-drawing ng lahat.”
