Inter-cultural relationships are difficult and complicated. How can such romances overcome cultural differences to keep the fire burning?
In the Maalaala Mo Kaya “Dyip” episode, we witnessed how genuine love between the Pinay nanny Rodelyn and the Australian tourist Vincent allowed them to hurdle that challenge. As what we have witnessed on the said episode, Rodelyn and Vincent accepted everything about each other. They chose to understand, support and above all, respect each other in every situation. Aside from their culture, they saw beyond each other’s societal status. When Vincent met Rodelyn while she was working as a nanny for a friend’s child, he focused on her personality and values as a person. On the other hand, Rodelyn did not rush into a relationship with Vincent and take advantage of his feelings for her own ends. She saw Vincent just like any other suitor and wanted him to court her the traditional Filipino way.
With how inspiring and heartwarming their love story is and the sweet chemistry between Yen Santos who played Rodelyn and Rafael Rosell who portrayed Vincent, the said MMK episode that aired with the hashtag #MMKMyLovelyNanny became the top Twitter trending topic in the Philippines.
