Are you ready for this Saturday’s (March 07) Maalaala Mo Kaya episode? The trailer alone is enough to make anyone tear up. Witness the hardships they experienced and feel inspired by their determination to keep living. Playing the Plazo brothers are Seth Fedelin, Harvey Bautista, and Uno Madrid who all shared what it was like to be part of this story in this Kapamilya Chat exclusive.
Portraying a real person comes with a lot of pressure. You have to effectively hide your identity and take on their persona.
“Kailangan maramdaman ng mga nanunuod na siya mismo ‘yung nakikita nila,” Seth explained. Not to mention, there is a chance of that person seeing your performance. “So, as much as possible, gusto mong tama ‘yung paano sila gumalaw, paano sila magsalita,” Harvey added.
For Vivoree Esclito, it is important for their performance to be a proper representation of their roles. This is why JC Alcantara believes that working on a true story is their chance to prove their talent as well as improve their craft as actors. Naturally, they had to make some adjustments, especially for the Kapamilya actress. Admittedly, she could no relate to her character Elvira who grew up with strict parents. On the other hand, JC can easily empathize with his character Ferdie because they are both the type who would do everything for the person they love.
At the end of the day, working on #MMKPlazoBrothersStory was a heartwarming experience for the two. Sharing the brothers’ journey through life is Vivoree and JC’s way of helping the family. Hopefully, viewers at home will learn to more thankful because everyone is blessed in different ways. “Other people don’t have what you have right now, so just be thankful,” Vivoree added.
Research is one way of preparing for the role. Once in front of the cameras, there is a lot of back and forth between the actors. This collaboration is what will allow the scene to be as close to perfect as it can. For #MMKPlazoBrothersStory, Seth, Uno and Harvey also had to wear prosthetics. It usually took them over an hour to put on and then even longer to remove.
The prosthetics made shooting the scenes extra challenging because it was hot, and they would get really sweaty underneath all the latex. At the end of the day, however, their struggles were only a small fraction of what the Plazo Brothers experience in real life. This is why the biggest lesson that the actors learned is to not be ashamed of physical appearances. Instead, we should all be proud of our differences because we all have different identities. “Ang importante diyan kung anong nasa loob mo, anong klase kang tao,” Seth said.
This MMK episode also stars Cris Villanueva and Vina Morales. Don’t miss #MMKPlazoBrothersStory this Saturday (March 07) after The Voice Teens Season 2!
