In case you did not know, RK Bagatsing and Empress Schuck have worked together in three different projects. The first was for an episode of Ipaglaban Mo. Then there was the movie “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” which starred fellow Kapamilya star Paulo Avelino. Now, they are once again sharing the screens for Maalaala Mo Kaya’s “Marka ng Kabutihan”.
For this episode of the Saturday drama anthology series, RK and Empress had the chance to meet the letter sender Jonathan “Totie” Casimiro who once saved the life of a security guard. This was helpful in their attempts to be as accurate as possible portraying the modern-day hero’s life. They asked questions and really got to know the real people in #MMKMarkaNgKabutihan.
Although, this also proved as an added challenge for the Kapamilya actors. Portraying a real person is tough because they are copying someone. From the way that person dresses to their tiniest mannerism, every detail is important in order to be that person. So, it was a lot of pressure particularly for RK to have Totie watching on set. “Nahihiya ako na baka mayroon akong mga choices or galaw na baka hindi akma sa kanya,” he explained. Luckily, Totie is an understanding guy.
Aside from personally meeting the letter sender, part of RK’s preparations throughout the three days they filmed the MMK episode was sitting through hair and makeup for four hours. He had to get tattoos, piercings, and a bald head just to look like Totie. Typically, he would already be on set early in the morning but would only start shooting scenes in the afternoon. “Very challenging siya kaya nakaka-proud ‘yung episode namin,” RK added.
In the end, the biggest lesson they learned is not to judge others. Hopefully, viewers at home will realize this as well when they finally watch #MMKMarkaNgKabutihan. When the video of Totie saving a security guard went viral, some people cared more about his appearance rather than his heroic act. “Regardless kung ano ‘yung panlabas mo, dapat ang hinahanap mo ‘yung kabutihan ng loob,” RK advised.
So, do not miss MMK “Marka Ng Kabutihan” after The Voice Teens! And if you need some advice on when to give up on a relationship, RK Bagatsing and Empress Schuck also faced the Susuko o Lalaban Challenge in this episode of Kapamilya Confessions!
