While the pandemic has caused a lot of terrible things to us, especially to our health and economy, there were still people who are able to have found something to be happy about amid this horrible situation. Just like couple Jex and Zaldy Faller, who’s wonderful love story was featured in the latest episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya last Saturday, May 8.

Depicting them were versatile seasoned actor and Init Sa Magdamag star JM de Guzman and talented actress Janine Gutierrez, who were able to impressively narrate how the letter senders’ unexpected romantic relationship was bloomed and thrived in the midst of the COVID-19 plague and while the whole country was placed under ever-changing levels of community quarantine.
And host Charo Santos-Concio had the chance to chat with and get to know more about Jex and Zaldy in the latest episode of MMK Kumustahan.
Seeing how joyful and very much in love the couple was, she couldn’t help but commend them and asked them to share how their great love story blossomed in the time of pandemic. While the world was in chaos, they found peace and happiness in each other’s company in their stay in Baguio City during the lockdown.
According to Jex, they’ve known each other since 2008 and she has liked him since then. But even though she’s already showing her feelings for him then by frequently inviting him in their after-work gimmicks or dates, Zaldy kept on declining her offers because he was focused then on his job, not to mention that he was not really into girls who drink, smoke, or party often like Jex.
They parted ways for several years – with Zaldy being able to build a family of his own, while Jex was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that compelled her to stop all her vices and just go on travels. Social media helped them reconnect and start their romance through constant exchange of messages and video calling while they’re far away from one another. The couple eventually had their first-ever date in Baguio City, where they got stuck together for some days because of the lockdown.
“I think it’s part of our journey kasi we had to transform pa e. May mga kailangan pa kaming baguhin sa isa’t isa bago naging kami. I think kung naging kami dati, it would not work at all kasi pakawala ako. He can’t tie me down. Pero ito ako ngayon, may asawa at magkakaanak na. Hayun, it’s part of the journey,” Jex told Charo when asked how they think the pandemic has helped their relationship.
When it comes to the realizations they had with everything that they went through as individuals and as a couple, Jex said, “Trust the process. Magtiwala ka lang na everything that’s meant for you will find you again or will find its way back to you.”
Meanwhile, Zaldy commented, “Sa’kin, huwag lang magmamadali. Kumbaga darating din ‘yong tamang panahon sa’yo. Huwag mawalan ng pag-asa. Habang may buhay, may pag-asa.”
The interview wrapped up with Charo giving them a few life advices, saying, “You continue to love each other with much devotion and commitment. Continue to make each other happy, continue to respect each other, and always dream of a better quality of life for yourself and for your family.”
It was revealed in the last part of the episode that they had already given birth to their firstborn last April 26, who they named Rigel Jaxx.
