Veteran actress and Love In 40 Days star Lotlot De Leon, and A Family Affair's Aya Fernandez shared their memorable ‘firsts’ in this Kapamilya Chat game.
Question number one prompted them to recall their first splurge as actresses. Aya’s acting career took off during the pandemic, so she likely used her first talent fee to pay for their electric bill or buy groceries for the family. Meanwhile, Lotlot can hardly recall hers since she started in the industry at the age of 15. Most likely, she bought a TV set for her younger sister Matet de Leon.
“Coffee Prince” was the first Korean drama Aya got addicted to. During the pandemic though, her ultimate binge-watch would have to be “Crash Landing On You.” For Lotlot, she couldn’t remember the title but it was a zombie series.
Asked their first out-of-the-country trips, Lotlot said her family lived in the States while she was 10. They stayed there for 2 years. As for Aya, she went to Thailand for free to join a Student Council convention during her third year in high school. Her international trips were all work-related, thus she’s planning to take a real vacation abroad once border restrictions relax.
The first recipe they mastered cooking is adobo for Lotlot. Although, her first versions were too oily she had to practice a lot. For Aya, her only culinary expertise is cooking rice the traditional way. Lotlot butted in and says cooking rice is actually the first thing she taught her kids in the kitchen.
As artists, their first performances will be forever etched in their minds. Lotlot remembers she was tapped to star in a movie with Gabby Concepcion before they left for the States. She confessed that Gabby was her ultimate crush back then, thus she accepted the offer right away. It was directed by Lino Brocka, making it all the more memorable. “It was a blessing in disguise. For me, it was nothing, just for fun. But at the same time, I also learned something because it was Direk Lino Brocka,” she looked back.
Meanwhile, Aya was in college when her group, the UP Street Dance Club, performed as Gary Valenciano’s backup dancers. When she became a MYX VJ years later, Aya met Mr. Pure Energy and mentioned that performance to him. Much to her surprise, the Idol Philippines Season 2 judge remembered every detail.
Moving on, the actresses skipped a question about their first boyfriends. Then, they ended the game by sharing their first songs to listen to on a random day. Lotlot mentioned she plays her son Diego Gutierrez’s songs on loop. She also loves listening to Regine Velasquez, but most days, it just depends on her mood. Meanwhile, Aya’s go-to playlist would have to include timeless OPM and punk rock songs.
