Enchong Dee shows delight in portraying generous, service-oriented tattoo artist in MMK “Ink of Smile”

Two years after his last Maalaala Mo Kaya stint in 2019, Enchong Dee is making a comeback on the long-running drama anthology this coming Saturday, November 6, to portray the inspiring story of renowned cosmetic and aesthetic tattooist Edwin Pranada, who is commended for his advocacy of offering his services for free to people suffering from alopecia.

And despite currently having his birthday leave somewhere peaceful, he gladly heeded to the invitation for him to grace the latest episode of Hotspot and talk about the upcoming MMK episode that he top-bills.

Aside from being delighted by how Edwin’s wife and children have chosen to stick with him amidst the hardships that they went through, the anecdote has also proven the notion that everyone has his/her own timeline.

Doon ko nga nakita ‘yong bawat tao, may kanya-kanyang oras kung kailan mo makikita at mararamdaman ano ba talaga ‘yong silbi ko sa mundong ito,” he said.

With regards to his preparation for the role, he disclosed that he’s able to deliver a compelling performance by “doing his homework,” which he did by not simply reading the script, but by reading between the lines and trying to understand what the character wants to convey. The guidance of episode director Jerome Pobocan and the tattoo expert present on the set has also helped him with his amazing portrayal as well.

Host DJ Jhai Ho then veered their conversation to his YouTube channel, wherein Enchong revealed that he actually has the full control of every content that he uploads, but it is his team who is in-charge of the technicalities. He then tackled the prevalent topic on his vlogs that is financial literacy or being a “budgetarian,” which for him everyone should learn and take into consideration, especially this pandemic.

“Ako, I always say, stay in your financial lane. Hindi ako keeping up with the Joneses,” the Huwag Kang Mangamba actor stated, when asked for his advice to the up-and-coming artists. He iterated how each one of us has different financial capabilities, so we should be wise in spending our hard earned money, as well as emphasized the value of doing sacrifices in order to earn and research for us to not be fooled by scammers.

Being in the industry for 15 years and having been paired with various actresses throughout his acting career, he expressed his enthusiasm to work with Marry Me, Marry You lead star Janine Gutierrez, to whom he had the opportunity to work with in the 2019 film “Elise,” this time in a teleserye. He described her as someone who has many facets, as she’s not only a great actress, but a stunning fashion model and impressive performer, too!

They then proceeded on the “Throwback Time Challenge,” wherein DJ Jhai Ho flashed photos of him captured in the previous years, and Enchong had to share the stories behind each.

Those were pictures of him with Kapamilya actresses, who are also his friends in real life, that had something to do with the projects they got to work on together. First was with Erich Gonzales (for the original digital series “Me. You. Maybe” that they both starred and created), next was with Jessy Mendiola (for 2012 movie “The Reunion”), then with Kim Chiu (for the 2008 series “My Girl), and lastly with his Pinoy Big Brother hosting partner Melai Cantiveros.
