Elisse Joson details MMK episode, meanings behind her tattoos and makes smoothie bowl on Kapamilya Chat

Amid the challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, even celebrities engage in online businesses to earn extra income while waiting for the entertainment industry to fully recover. Kapamilya actress Elisse Joson displays her beautiful sense of resilience by helping her family manage their food business. The Josons’ restaurant in Mandaluyong is temporarily closed due to the pandemic, so they decided to bring their cooking expertise in the online world instead.

While they’re exerting effort to constantly serve their customers with new flavors, Elisse embraced the fact that consumers are more careful with their hard-earned money and would rather prioritize essential goods. Nonetheless, Elisse would continue cooking homemade goodies until they expand their business outside the digital sphere again.

Besides helping her mom manage their business, Elisse fights the quarantine anxieties by taking care of plants and doing creative activities like painting.

This year is undoubtedly a dramatic and challenging one, thus Elisse finds it just the right time to flaunt her meaningful tattoos to her followers. She has always wanted to get inked since she was 16 but there’s a law in the United States, were they used to live, prohibiting minors from getting a tattoo.

Elisse has now a total of two body arts, and the second one was quite a secret to her mother. On her left ring finger is a lifeline tattoo. She recently unveiled another one on Instagram, an image of raindrops falling from a cloud, inked on her rib. “There’s always a rainbow after the rain,” reads her caption. She does not believe in the notion that tattoos are addicting, saying “it’s all in the mind.” Asked if she’s ready for her third tattoo, Elisse said she hasn’t thought of any design idea at the moment.

MMK “My Handsome Boss”

Despite the challenges, Elisse still finds a lot of reasons to be happy and grateful, like the replay of her Maalaala Mo Kaya episode titled “My Handsome Boss” originally aired in October last year.

Looking back on that project, Elisse found it hard to believe that she was sharing the lead with matinee idol Richard Gutierrez. It was a career feat she never thought possible, knowing that Richard is always paired with some of the biggest names in the industry like Angel Locsin. Yet, even the impossible can still happen, it just takes a little time.

Elisse added that it’s an honor to be working with Richard, whom she described as professional, warm, and pleasant. Albeit she found him intimidating at first and they were challenged by getting past the tension, they eventually got more comfortable with each other. “Hindi niya ipaparamdam sa’yo na matagal na siya sa industriya,” she further said about her leading man.

This assignment almost slipped away from her due to conflict in schedule as she was doing another teleserye then. But considering that an MMK episode is a rare opportunity and is part of every artist’s acting bucket list, Elisse had to make a way. Besides, she enjoys doing romantic-comedies and playing interesting characters.

Elisse has indeed come a long way since entering showbiz at 16.  From joining MMK episodes as extra, that means she had no dialogues to utter, Elisse finally found her way to her first lead in the longest-running drama anthology.

Love from Home

One more thing that Elisse’s fans looked forward to during this quarantine was her entry to the Star Magic’s Love from Home digital catalogue. The campaign is part of an effort to feed hungry Filipino families most affected by the pandemic, in partnership with the ABS-CBN Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig program.

Artists were tasked to produce their own photos in the comfort of their own home in a completely DIY style – no glam team, creative team, and professional photographers! To be able to create chill homey vibes, Elisse did not put too much drama on her photos. She wanted them simple and natural yet striking.

She settled for their garage and natural lighting. As tips to those who want to make IG-worthy portraits, Elisse said natural sun-kissed glow is achieved at 7 AM or 4PM. Her mom was there to act as her assistant.

Elisse did her makeup with ease, with enough knowledge gained through watching video tutorials and asking questions from her makeup artists. She struggles in hair styling but still found the perfect trick. “Binasa ko na lang para hindi na ako mag-ayos,” she revealed.

Smoothie Bowl

To give us a sneak peek of her talent in creating homemade recipes and concoctions, Elisse took us to her kitchen and prepared an easy-to-make healthy snack. The fruity smoothie bowl is Elisse’s favorite merienda. “Ang difference niya sa smoothie is mas thicker ang consistency, so pwede mo siya kutsarain,” she explained.

Elisse made use of frozen dragon fruit, strawberries, banana, coconut milk, granola, and cereals for her version.

Procedures:

  1. Put the frozen dragon fruit in a blender. This will give the smoothie an icy thick consistency, so you may leave the ice out. The dragon fruit (or any preferred fruit) can be placed in a zip lock bag, then leave it in the freezer overnight.
  2. Add the strawberries.
  3. Pour in the coconut milk. If unavailable, regular milk can be used instead.
  4. Blend until thick, then, pour in a bowl.
  5. Add the sliced banana, granola, and cereals as toppings. Chocolate bits can also be sprinkled on top to add a little more sweetness.
  6. You may play with your chosen toppings to create an IG-worthy finished product! Perfect for fruit lovers looking for some refreshing treat!

Prank call

What will you do if the angelic Elisse Joson calls you on the phone to ask for a big favor that might attract bashers? Her good friend Michelle Vito would willingly drop a mobile game session and be of help, like what happened in a prank call.

Elisse mentally prepared her script. She acted problematic due to a serious blow of hate comments triggered by her appearance in a street protest for ABS-CBN. She said the situation has worsened, leading in the cancellation of a scheduled virtual guesting for a show. She asked Michelle to help her clear her name by tweeting in her defense.

The victim fell for the drama in the middle of an intense Mobile Legends session. Michelle dropped the game and tweeted a statement vindicating Elisse from the allegations and hate comments, like what a true friend would do.

Then, Elisse asked Michelle to check out her reply. And that’s when the prank was revealed.
