Fill your October with kilig and inspiration as ABS-CBN Entertainment streams nine of the most remarkable and compelling narratives of Maalaala Mo Kaya via ABS-CBN Superview on YouTube this month!
Look back on the inspiring journey of late Filipino international fashion designer Rocky Gathercole in “Sketchpad”, which was compellingly portrayed by Arjo Atayde. We were also astounded by how Liza Soberano enthrallingly put herself in the shoes of actress and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach when her story was featured in the “Korona” episode.
We also found ourselves moved by the relatable and touching stories of ordinary people in the “Sapatos,” “Lubid,” and “Orasan” episodes. Top-billed by Jessy Mendiola and Ariel Rivera, the “Sapatos” episode followed the story of Cecile Labesora-Kramm, a successful Filipina based in Germany who went through a lot of obstacles in before getting to where she is at present.
“Lubid” pulled a lot of heartstrings as it chronicled the life of Sima (Aiko Melendez), a caring yet strict mother whose harsh way of disciplining her four children – Nine (Jane Oineza), Pau (Kokoy de Santos), Aaron (Brace Arquiza), and Adet (Alexa Macanan) – took a toll on their relationship and her mental health.
Another poignant bond of a mother with her child was seen in “Orasan”, as we witnessed how a son’s love for his family and determination to get out of poverty motivated him to work part-time as a house helper, as inspired by his selfless mom, who’s a hardworking maid. It was headlined by Zaijian Jaranilla as Jarel and Pokwang as Fe.
Aside from the true-to-life drama, MMK treated us to a number of kilig narratives as well, such as “Sunflower,” “You Cheer Me Up”, “Selfie,” and “Stuffed Toy,” which we can all revisit via Superview!
We were surely touched by how young couple Maxine Blanco and Gab Sta. Ana, played by phenomenal Kapamilya loveteam Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber, who faced all the challenges that came into their relationship hand-in-hand until death tore them apart.
Hiro Mallari and Michelle Ann Bonzo of the “Selfie” narrative also had the same fate. However, instead of a killer disease, a fatal accident ended their path to forever. They were played by then-teen stars Manolo Pedrosa and Janella Salvador.
The “You Cheer Me Up” episode further exhibited the dramatic chops of Janella as she got paired with Joshua Garcia in telling the love story of couple Airalyn Dimapilis and Jason Carale that both thrilled and inspired a lot of people, especially those who are in relationship as well.
Last, but definitely not the least, was the “Stuffed Toy” episode starred by the popular JaDine loveteam, comprised of James Reid and Nadine Lustre. They made us kilig with their fascinating portrayal of Marrion “Yong” Gopez, James’ ex-housemate in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010, and his adorable romance with his girlfriend Carmina Joven.
MMK also brings together its past letter senders and artists who starred in their life stories for its 30th-anniversary docu-drama series "MMK Shorts: Beyond the Lens," streaming on ABS-CBN's YouTube Channel every Saturday, 8 PM.
