REVIEW: MMK Bangketa shows no amount of hardship can stop us from succeeding- Part 3

Passive attitude

This enraged Naning, who lamented Sallie’s passive attitude when maltreated. She said she wished Sallie would become more assertive when faced with abuse and cruelty so that she won’t always end up languishing in the streets.

Sallie responded by asking Naning if she would rather choose to enjoy life more with her affluent real mother Christina, instead of suffering with her living in a bangketa and writhing with her submissiveness given her sorrowful plight. “Ganito lang ako,” Sallie says.

A tearful Naning told Sallie she would never even think of leaving her, because their home on the sidewalk is where her heart is.
