Fans are now hyped-up anticipating the comeback of Joshua Garcia on TV. Many have missed the young actor in months as the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the country. Now, the brilliant, acclaimed young actor is back on Maalaala Mo Kaya this Saturday, December 12.
In this upcoming episode, with the pre-airing title “Life Sketch,” Joshua plays a poor and ill young fisherfolk named Maro, who is determined to achieve his dreams of finishing school despite all the struggles life may throw at him. This episode again highlights Joshua’s immense acting skill that has really turned heads since his Pinoy Big Brother All In days.
Apart from his teleserye appearances, with his last topbilling the primetime drama Ngayon At Kailanman with Julia Barretto, Joshua starred in several episodes of the longest-running drama anthology. In his first MMK episode, “Itlog,” in January 2016 took on the role of Pablo who did all that he could to save his family from a cult member. After one month, Joshua again appeared on MMK for the episode “Puno” playing a gay character named Barbie, whose love interest was his female childhood sweetheart Jona, portrayed by Loisa Andalio. In 2017, Joshua then broke hearts with his chilling performance as the ill-fated lover John Michael in the much talked about episode “Bituin,” with Julia Barretto. Joshua would then earn so much praise for his dramatic performance as the hero soldier Army PFC Ian Paquit in “Medalya” in 2019. His most recent appearance was in February with Janella Salvador playing the cheerleader Jason in the romantic episode, “Tren”.
While it’s challenging to be able to stand out in show business, Joshua achieved his stature because of his incredible depth in acting. In addition, his charming, matinee idol charm can sweep any girl off their feet, while his expressive eyes can pierce through anyone’s heart onscreen.
As seen in this gallery, the intensity of the behind-the-scene photos gives us an idea of how powerful “Life Sketch” will be. Joshua admitted in an interview with ABS-CBN News that he struggled at first given his long hiatus in dramatic roles.
"’Yung emosyon ko parang makina na kailangang pinapainit para gumana siya. So mga first day ko, first scene ko sobrang hirap na hirap ako. Ang hirap pa lang bumalik sa trabaho kapag ang tagal mong napahinga. Naging mahirap pero kinaya, kinausap ako ni Direk (Nuel C. Naval)," Joshua said.
Don’t miss Joshua as Maro, who will seek to overcome life’s ordeals to achieve his dreams in “Life Sketch” on MMK, this Saturday, December 12 after I Can See Your Voice on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z Channel 11.
