All people ever want is to be loved. But we all know that this does not always come so easily. For Boni (Lorna Tolentino) and Nilo (Ejay Falcon), it was all about tearing down people’s prejudice and proving that age is just a number.
Maalaala Mo Kaya’s “Dalandan” episode highlighted how society judge relationships with an age gap, particularly when it is the woman who is older. Nilo was as young as 10 when he first felt smitten by Boni. Meanwhile, she was three decades his senior and already had two children from her marriage.
Over the years, Nilo continued to admire Boni secretly. However, his feelings proved to be much deeper and serious than it would seem. So, when Boni’s husband Juanito (Allan Paule) passed away, he swooped in to comfort her.
Slowly, he took this chance to reveal how he truly saw her. Boni’s initial reaction was of disgust and went on to point out that a relationship between them would be unacceptable. Not to mention, her own children would not allow it. These worries clouded her mind, but his affection was her solace over the grief of losing her husband. In the end, she accepted his heart.
The two are aware that their love story is not ideal. As happy as they were to finally be together, there were many instances that threatened to separate them. 11 years later, Nilo tied the knot with his princess. They were triumphant against the norms and Kapamilyas are happy for them.
After their story was shared on MMK, many netizens took to Twitter to share how proud they are of Boni and Nilo. One Twitter user wrote, “Tonights episode is an eye opener to everyone that LOVE IS AGELESS AND GENDERLESS.” Another simply stated, “Love wins.”
Indeed, when you know it is true love, there is no mountain too high.
