REVIEW: Anne Curtis delivers credible. Believable performance as transman in MMK “Sinturon”
The episode, written by Bing Castro Villanueva and directed by Barry Gonzalez tackles the challenges and struggles experienced daily by members of the different LGBTQ+ sectors, depicted by the true-to-life story of Marrz Balaoro played by Anne. Marrz faced the harsh judgement of society, particularly by his father Martin (Carlos Siguion Reyna) that led him to find a better life abroad and attain respect and acceptance, while fighting for the rights of those who suffer the same plight.
In the behind the scenes photos released during the episode’s shoot, Anne can be seen wearing various hats to conceal her hair to stay true to the role. She also rode on top of a jeep and seemed focused on playing her role amidst the heat and humidity during shooting. Anne is one of the industry’s leading actresses with various awards for her critically acclaimed performances in movies and TV series. Her passion for her craft rings true when she agreed to take on the controversial and one of her most challenging roles so far.
