Christopher de Leon revealed the ordeal he went through as he battled the dreaded COVID-19 in this initial episode of “Love Thy Chika” with his Love Thy Woman co-star Ruffa Gutierrez on Online Kapamilya Shows (OKS).
In this first ever interview since getting cleared of the virus, Christopher said he was shocked to learn about being tested positive for COVID-19. In this video, he said his doctor advised him to go to the hospital to have a check-up for symptoms of his “usual rhinitis.”
Christopher then said he ended up waiting for his turn to take the COVID-19 test.
Contrary to rumors circulating, he said that he waited the whole day for the COVID-19 test without any special treatment since was so many people who lined up. It was a long wait, he said, because of a delay in acquiring test kit supplies.
Christopher then said he was devastated to learn from his doctor that the results were positive.
“Paano ko nakuha ‘yun?” he wondered.
It didn’t take long before wife Sandy Andolong had herself tested as well, but fortunately turned negative.
Sandy, who was with Christopher during the interview, said she was very surprised to learn of Christopher’s affliction. “Siya ang may pinakamalinis na katawan,” she said.
“Ako na lang, ‘wag siya,” Sandy said, since she emotionally stated how Christopher was the “anchor” of their family.
Christopher then said he placed himself on a 14-day self-quarantine, seven days in the hospital and the rest staying isolated at home. He eventually recovered and turned out negative after intense medication and treatment and just by eating well, resting well, sleeping well, while getting exposed to sunlight, which he said was “important.” And “pray incessantly,” he declared.
Ruffa would then call on Christopher and Sandy’s children, who all appeared on the video chat—Mika, who was with the couple at their home, Rafael, who lives in New Zealand, Miguel who’s now in San Francisco, and Gabriel, who is in New York.
