David (Xian Lim) is far from being blameless. He surely committed immoral mistakes. But no matter how imperfect he is as a husband to Dana (Yam Concepcion), what matters is his willingness to repair and nurture his relationship with his ‘adopted’ son Michael (JJ Quilantang), shown in these scenes from Love thy Woman.
While his past illicit affair with Dana’s sister Jia (Kim Chiu) is undoubtedly a serious crime, it is hard not to acknowledge how much of a loving father David is. He would move mountains just to be with the child but it won’t be an easy fight, with ex-wife Dana not granting him the request for a shared custody as punishment for his philandering.
David, nevertheless, will not stop begging Dana even if he knows insulting words and anger are all he would ever get from her. So, running out of options, he threatens to bring the battle in court even against all the odds.
The truth about Michael’s identity was soon revealed, shaking everyone’s worlds especially that of the ex-couple. The plot twists slowly turned the tables. David mustered more courage to pursue the fight for Michael’s custody upon knowing that he is indeed the child’s real father.
While David is being drawn nearer to victory, the chain of events bit by bit drain Dana of her powers. More so, he learned how to play with her weaknesses. Michael knowing the truth about his adoption was a big threat to Dana, so she finally gave in to David’s request for a shared custody, scared that David might tell her son the truth.
However, David’s struggle did not end there. He still had someone else to war with, someone more powerful and unforgiving – Adam (Christopher de Leon). With nothing but his grit and paternal prerogative as weapons, David did not let Adam’s influence daunt him. “Kahit magkagulo pa tayo, ilalaban ko ang karapatan ko. Gusto ko lang tuparin ang responsibilidad at obligasyon ko bilang ama,” he told the Wong patriarch during their face off. What he got in return was a series of insulting attacks, with Adam calling him a man of rotten principles.
David might have been defeated in that moment but he will certainly get back up again and never surrender until he gets Michael, his son.
Don’t miss how David, alongside Jia, continues to fight for his rights as a parent to Michael in Love thy Woman weekdays on the Kapamilya Channel.
