Her character Jia Wong in the afternoon soap opera Love Thy Woman is absolutely admired not just because of the strength and courage she brandished in owning up to her mistakes, accepting her plight, and confronting the challenges that came her way, but with how tightly bonded she is to both of her parents. And the same, somehow, goes for Kim Chiu in real life.
Those who have followed her journey through the years would know that her relationship with their Daddy William and Mommy Louella was on the rocks ever since they parted ways when she was still a kid. Despite being raised by their paternal grandmother, their father has remained present in their lives but only occasional.
During the presscon of Love Thy Woman held last January, the Chinita Princess revealed that her father was her motivation to do great in school in order for her to see him and make him proud. Kim would show her appreciation for her dad when he attended her school recognition ceremonies since he had to divide his time for all his other families.
It was only until 2013 when she had the opportunity to reunite with her parents when her mom got ill and later on died due to brain aneurysm. She reconciled with her Daddy William, whom she and her siblings haven’t talked to for five years because of a misunderstanding. She would met her half siblings for the first time.
Since then, Kim and her four other siblings – Lakam, Liam, Twinkle, and John Paul – made sure to make every moment count with their cool and groovy father by spending quality time with him whenever possible. They’re usually spotted eating together at home or in a restaurant and going to different places in and out of the country, which are apparently their favorite bonding activities.
And just last year, they celebrated the 60th birthday of Daddy William by throwing a grand party for him, which was attended not only by their relatives and friends, but of their half siblings as well!
In the caption of her IG post regarding it, the 30-year-old actress wrote, “Happy birthday 60th, Papa!!! Last night was special to you not only because it’s your birthday, but we, your children, came together to celebrate this milestone for you!!! Your first photo with all of us!!!! Hope we made you happy. We may have [three] different mothers, but you taught us that we are still siblings. You teach us not to hate each other, but you tried your best for us to know one another. We may be an imperfect family, but still love, acceptance and forgiveness reigns. #FamilyIsLove.”
