An actress who first gained prominence in erotic roles and alluring pictorials in the early 2010s, Yam Concepcion has since become a topnotch female lead in major teleseryes.
Yam turned heads in 2011 when she first appeared in the erotic thriller “Rigodon,” which became her launching pad for more appearances in film and TV.
That happened in 2013 when she was cast in revenge drama Carlo J. Caparas’ Dugong Buhay with Ejay Falcon and Arjo Atayde as the female lead protagonist Sandy De Guzman.
Her impressive stint in her first starring role led to appearances in three Maalaala Mo Kaya episodes —“Medalya,” “Sanggol,” and “Bukid:—and an Ipaglaban Mo guesting for the episode “Ibigay Ang Aming Karapatan.” Her busy 2014 capped off with a supporting role in Pure Love, the teleserye adaptation of the Korean drama 49 Days opposite Alex Gonzaga and Yen Santos.
Her career started rolling ever since. In 2015, Yam was cast in another gripping Korean drama adaptation,Two Wives, with Kaye Abad, Jason Abalos and Erich Gonzales for the special role of Michelle Olasco. That same year, she would also appear in another major teleserye, the afternoon drama All of Me , with Albert Martinez, JM de Guzman, and Yen Santos, as the cunning Bianca Nieves.
After a pair of Ipaglaban Moappearances in the episodes “Hanggang Sa Huli” and “Kapitbahay”, Yam would star in her first major role in the daytime family drama and kidserye Langit Lupa haracter Princess, who tried to make up for her husband’s transgressions that led to the death of Alessandra de Rossi’s character, her best friend Dey.
Yam would then appear as a guest in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano in 2017 as one of Cardo’s (Coco Martin) love interests, a prelude to the breakthrough role that made her the viral, controversial, talk of the town actress portraying a character that gripped the nation.
This was in 2018 in what was seemingly just another story about marriage infidelity. But Halik was just so well-written and exceptionally produced, Yam’s character Jade, the wife of Jericho Rosales’ character Lino, was on everyone’s lips, social media posts, and viral memes, for her infuriating affair with Sam Milby’s character Ace. All her actions were closely watched and discussed each night, making Yam a celebrated primetime actress, with even the production unit head, Direk Ruel Bayani, praising her overwhelmingly.
Her brilliant and extraordinary portrayal led to wide acclaim, and a future project was something viewers anticipated.
And this year, Yam is making grand teleserye comeback in a major afternoon teleserye, wherein she now plays Dana, the legal wife of Xian Lim’s character David and half-sister of Kim Chiu’s character Jia, who will find out and rebuke them for their illicit affair.
Definitely, this upcoming portrayal is a must-watch, as this would showcase Yam’s versatility and depth as an actress further with a role that should again be memorable to viewers.
