Xian Lim’s notable rise as a seasoned actor as seen in Kapamilya teleserye stints

With his tall, fair, and handsome façade that reminds us of the princes we’ve seen in fairytales, it’s definitely impossible to miss (and even get smitten with) Xian Lim. But throughout his 12 years in the local entertainment scene, we have discovered that there’s actually more to him than his smoking, good looks because he’s talented in music and acting as well!

And this year, we’re about to witness his noteworthy acting chops anew in the much-awaited afternoon soap opera Love Thy Woman, where he stars as David Chao, the man to whom the characters of Yam Concepcion and Kim Chiu will both fall in love with, worsening their longtime rivalry.

However, before we get to see him in his latest role, let’s take a look back on his remarkable portrayals in Kapamilya narratives via this Spotlight feature.

Not many of us would probably remember nor aware, but his first teleserye appearance was in the Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean drama My Girl in 2008, where he had a cameo as a photographer. Not long after, he was able to score his first regular stint as Rick Alejandro in the weekly musical drama anthology Your Song Presents: Only Hope, which was also top-billed by Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson.

Xian’s biggest break came in 2009 when he was chosen to headline the romance drama Katorse, alongside Erich Gonzales, Enchong Dee, and Ejay Falcon, playing the role of Albert Arcanghel.

He then became a part of the Filipino incarnation of the Mexican telenovela Rubi as among its extended cast named Luis Ferrer, the half-brother of Diether Ocampo’s Hector Ferrer who was one of the main characters.

On that same year, 2010, he also got cast in the “Elias Paniki” narrative of the action series Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla as the supporting character Gabriel. It was succeeded by his debuts both in Maalaala Mo Kaya, via the “Marriage Contract” episode, and in Wansapanataym Presents, via the “Bandang Itim” story. He also appeared in the “Tell Me” episode of Your Song Presents: Andi.

In 2011, the KimXi tandem was eventually born when he got paired with Kim Chiu for the first-time in the romance drama Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin where they played as the younger versions of couple Joaquin and Alondra del Tierro, played by John Estrada and Lorna Tolentino respectively.

The unmistakable chemistry they exuded brought them My Binondo Girl, the first-ever series they top-billed as a loveteam. There, he played the role Andy Wu, the stiff rival of Kim’s Jade Dimaguiba who later on became her husband.

A year after, he was once again paired with the Chinita Princess in the family-romance drama Ina, Kapatid, Anak which they starred alongside Maja Salvador and Enchong Dee. He took on the role of Liam Lagdameo, the friend-turned-love interest of Kim’s Celyn Marasigan.

Xian then headlined two MMK episodes in 2014, namely, “Gitara” and “Saklay”.

The 2016 primetime drama The Story Of Us, marked his and the KimXi loveteam’s teleserye return, in which he played the lead male protagonist Ferdinand “Macoy” Sandoval. It was followed by his stints in the “DJ” and “Medical Result” episodes of MMK.

He delighted the viewers with his special participation in the Bea Alonzo and Ian Veneracion-starrer A Love To Last as Sebastian “Totoy” Cruz, the Batangueño childhood friend of lead female protagonist Andeng (Bea) who used to harbor romantic feelings towards her but gave way when he saw how happy she was with Anton (Ian).

And just last year, we saw him again on MMK as he starred in its two episodes, namely, “Kwek-Kwek” and “Youth Citizen”.

For sure, many of you have missed seeing Xian in a regular teleserye stint so you better not miss an episode of Love Thy Woman, beginning February 10 on Kapamilya Gold.
