More than a month ago, we were introduced to the five dashing and hunky lads who have made us probably drooling with their good looks and finely-chiseled bods and completely engrossed us with their exciting encounters and romantic affairs in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Los Bastardos.
Portrayed by five of the hottest and most bankable heartthrobs in the local entertainment scene – Jake Cuenca, Diego Loyzaga, Marco Gumabao, Albie Casiño and Josh Colet– let’s get to know more our beloved lead male characters as we delve on their strengths and weaknesses that truly make up to their uniquely appealing personalities, just like how the characters in our favorite childhood collectible trading card game are presented.
The only legitimate among the five sons of Don Roman Cardinal (Ronaldo Valdez) and was even named after him, the townsfolk thought that Roman Jr. was already dead since his mom, Soledad (Cristine Reyes), is presumed to have died during the mudslide.
Christened as Isagani Esperanza, he grew up under the care of his adoptive family who filled him with love, but there’s still something in him that yearns to find out who his biological family is. He now manages a small distillery that produces Coco Brandy.
Although he wasn’t raised by his real father, Isagani apparently brandishes the following admirable characteristics of him – kindness, compassion, loyalty, courage, physical power, entrepreneurial passion, and distinctive taste buds necessary for developing fine brandy.
But behind the strength he displays, he seemingly gets vulnerable to the snide remarks or what other people might think about him.
Tagged as “The Bastard Heir”, he is the son of Don Roman to the sultry and slutty Alba Santillan (Isabel Rivas) who has been obsessed with ever since. He is now the “Rockstar Boss” of the Cardinal Distillery, as its Vice President of Operations.
Sharing the same roof with his father growing up, Joaquin has interestingly imbibed the impartiality, loyalty, and kindness of the wealthy haciendero towards other people, his physical strength, and his impressive leadership and management skills.
He might be a brilliant businessman, but he seems to fail when it comes to his relationships with other people. He is a notorious womanizer, as proven by his brief romances. Plus, his extreme arrogance often put him into trouble and brawls.
Hailed as “The Golden Bastard”, he is the product of Don Roman’s illicit affair with the distressed Madeleine (Joyce Ann Burton), the wife of his business rival Menandro (Lito Pimentel). He is fond of gambling and always abides by his father’s orders.
We all know that being insidious is a negative characteristic, but this is apparently his greatest asset that helps him win not only in gambling, but in business and life as well. He is admired, especially by his dad, because of his sense of competitiveness, courage, and cleverness.
He may appear intimidating to other people, but Matteo becomes a chicken whenever Menandro is around because he is willing to do anything just to get his approval. Unbeknownst to him, he is only being used by adoptive father as his secret pawn to revenge against his wife and Don Roman.
Don Roman's son with his childhood friend Pilar (Pinky Amador), "The Vengeful Bastard" grew up being abused and even exploited by his mother for her personal gains. Fortunately, he was rescued by the small-time thief Fausto (Jeffrey Santos) who influenced him to be a con artist.
His versatility, gumptiousness, and bravery is indeed delighting, especially when it comes to accomplishing his missions.
Despite his strong personality, being ill-tempered is seemingly his primarily flaw, which often brings him into trouble and disagreements with his partner-in-crime Lupita (Mica Javier) and Fausto.
Dubbed "The Secret Bastard", the identity of his real father has been hidden from him ever since he was born. He is the son of Don Roman to Alba's handmaid Sita (Ana Abad Santos), who used to be his secret lover in their younger years.
Due to Alba's threat of taking Joaquin away from him, the compassionate Don was forced to let Lucas grow up outside his residence, and eventually serve their family, and without knowing the truth about his real role in his life.
With the proper upbringing of his doting mother and living close to his virtuous biological father, he has imbibed the unwavering patience and incredible gentle nature of his mom and the exceptional leadership and organizational skills if his dad.
Lucas is completely admirable, especially with the way he shows his huge love for Sita. But he also has his own share of waterloo, which is the void that his estranged father is about to fill that has been affecting him.
In order to know these handsome guys better, you should to catch them every weekday afternoon on Kapamilya Gold after Kadenang Ginto.
