American pop artist Katy Perry made sure it was a performance like no other, reigning like a lion in an unforgettable halftime number at Superbowl XLIX.
Entering the stadium riding a giant mechanical lion, everyone was screaming in awe and surprise with Perry’s extravagant entrance at University of Phoenix Stadium.
Dressed in a flame-inspired costume, Perry sang a medley of her hit songs, starting with “Roar” then transitioning to “Dark Horse”, alighting from the giant mechanical lion she was riding, and grooving along with dancers dressed as horses.
After “Dark Horse”, the stage welcomed American rock artist Lenny Kravitz, accompanying Katy in a one-of-a-kind duet of “I Kissed a Girl”.
The stage then transformed into an island-themed set-up, complete with surfboards, palm trees, beach balls, and dancing “sharks.” Perry transformed from her flame-inspired get-up into a bubbly outfit consisting of a colorful crop top and skirt and sang her number one hits “Teenage Dream” and “California Girls”.
A second guest, American rapper Missy Elliot, makes an appearance on stage, belting out her hit song “Get Your Freak On”. Perry later joined Elliot in singing “Lose Control” wearing an oversized black hoodie sweatshirt with “49” adorning the front.
Just as how grand Perry opened her halftime performance, she closes it with a bang as well, singing “Firework”, wearing a shiny silver dress adorned with stars, and accompanied with fireworks to wrap up her Superbowl XLIX performance.
