Full of energy.
This is how British singer-songwriter Charli XCX’s performance can be best described.
XCX, best known for being part of Australian hip-hop artist Iggy Azalea’s hit song “Fancy” and for writing Swedish DJ duo Icona Pop’s hit single “I Love It”, gave an unforgettable hour-long concert to a thousand fans at SM Aura’s Samsung Hall on April 18.
The fans waited patiently inside Samsung Hall until XCX, together with her three-piece, all-female band, appeared on stage, opening her concert with the lines “F--- You, Sucker!”, which are the lines of her song “Sucker”, also the name of her third album.
Her all-female band, comprising of guitarists Vicky Warwick and Elizabeth Caney, and drummer Deborah Know-Hewson, wore sparkly silver dresses while XCX donned a midriff-baring, zebra-print ensemble that showcased her well-toned abs.
XCX sang songs mostly from her third album such as “Doing It”, “Body of My Own”, “Gold Coins”, “Break the Rules”, “Need Ur Love”, and “Breaking Up”.
In addition to singing songs from her third album, XCX also sang her own version of Icona Pop’s “I Love It”, and a few songs from her sophomore album “True Romance” like “You [Ha Ha Ha]”, “Stay Away”, and “Black Roses”.
XCX closed her hour-long set with her hit song “Boom Clap”, best known for being one of the songs used in the young adult movie adaptation “The Fault in Our Stars”.
