The 49-year-old actress - who has daughters Rowan, 11, and Grier, eight, with husband Chris Henchy - used to associate cosmetics with her work so never used them much in her spare time, but has changed her outlook now because her kids like her to pay attention to her appearance.
She said: "When I was younger, it was such a job for me, so I would just wash it off the minute I was done with the job.
"Now my daughter insists that I put makeup on when I take her to school. 'Mom, please, at least put a little mascara on. And some lip gloss. And some blush.' It's like, 'Anything else?' So I definitely try to pay more attention."
Brooke also revealed her most unusual beauty trip - snorting after administering eye-brightening drops so as not to spoil make-up.
She explained to People magazine: "When you put eye drops in, quickly breathe in through your nose because it sucks it back in and it won't ruin your make-up.
"You sound like a drug addict, but it pops right back in and your eye make-up doesn't smear."
