JC de Vera on- and off-screen evolution

He can turn romantic, comical, bad, or anything for a role. That’s how versatile JC De Vera is. Almost a decade since being a bonafide Kapamilya, JC has become a dependable leading man not just on screen, but also at home with his little family.

JC’s first TV appearance as a Kapamilya was via special guesting for Robin Padilla and Angel Locsin’s sitcom Toda Max’s anniversary episode. It was also a sneak peek of his chemistry with Angel whom he got to work with in his first-ever Kapamilya teleserye The Legal Wife (2014). He played Max, the confidante of Angel’s Monica.

While The Legal Wife was a good vehicle in itself, it can’t be denied that JC put in effort to also shine in the series, helping him rise further to stardom. He proved himself worthy of wearing the leading man cape when he starred in the afternoon soap Moon of Desire (2014) with Meg Imperial; this time, showing off more of his daring side.

From heating up afternoon viewing, JC turned it more romantic by playing Shaina Magdayao’s husband in The Better Half (2017). He carved out a special place in our hearts by portraying a strong, sacrificial knight-in-shining armor to his wife.

JC then jumped to romcom via Since I Found You (2018). He joined the lead cast consist of Piolo Pascual, Arci Muñoz, Alessandra de Rossi, and Empoy Marquez. He portrayed Ginno, the assistant in love with Dani (Arci), who ended up with his boss Nathan (Piolo).

In 2019, JC took on his most intense mission as an actor when he played military officer Ethan del Fierro, the love interest of Angel Locsin’s Rhian Bonifacio in The General’s Daughter. Besides Angel, he worked with the industry’s greats like Eula Valdes, Albert Martinez, Janice de Belen, Tirso Cruz III, and Diamond Star Maricel Soriano.

JC’s versatility was further put to the test when he shared an onscreen romance with younger actress Maris Racal in the family drama Pamilya Ko. In the particular story arc he appeared in, JC donned the character of a married professor who fell in love with a student. His unexpected chemistry with Maris gave birth to the endearing PeaNat tandem, proving that his charm never gets old.

In between these teleseryes, JC also graced other Kapamilya shows from comedy like Banana Sundae and Gandang Gabi Vice to heavy dramas such as Maalaala Mo Kaya and Ipaglaban Mo. He also had a special appearance in Wansapanataym Presents Just Got Laki.

As dedicated he is to his onscreen personas, JC also takes his biggest off-screen role seriously. He is now a happily married man to Rikkah Cruz and a doting father to their unica hija (and his mini me!) Lana Athena. The couple first wed in a civil ceremony before welcoming Lana in 2018. They tied the knot anew in their dream church wedding in Tagaytay last September.

Also this year, JC tests his acting mettle again by starring as one of Erich Gonzales’ leading men in the Kapamilya revenge-drama series La Vida Lena. He is Adrian, the rich business scion who easily fell in love with Lena, oblivious to her motive of taking revenge on his family.
