Carlo Aquino teleserye journey

Being in the industry for almost three decades, many of us have indeed witnessed how Carlo Aquino has grown from being an adorable child star to becoming one of the seasoned actors in the local entertainment scene. He has portrayed a variety of roles through the years, and this year, he’s about to win our hearts anew with his stint in the upcoming romance drama La Vida Lena.

As we look forward on seeing him take on the character of the lovestruck Jordan Cabrera, let’s revisit some of the roles he brilliantly played in the previous years.

Just like some of the top-caliber artists we admire at present, he kicked off his career as a child star, whose charm was enough for him to score a spot in the iconic 90’s youth-oriented program Ang TV. His impressive acting talent got noticed, ensuing to his appearances in a slew of narrative programs, such as Star Drama Presents (1993-2001), Familia Zaragoza (1995-1996), Pahina (2000-2001), at Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka (2001).

However, it was his unforgettable stint in the youth-oriented drama G-Mik (1999-2002) that turned him into a household name as his team-up with fellow child star-turned-real-life flame Angelica Panganiban was fully embraced by the viewers and garnered huge throng of supporters.

The 17-year-old Carlo then appeared in the 2002 teen-oriented program Berks, which he top-billed along with perennial loveteam partner Angelica and other brightest teen stars of their generation. He eventually became part of the 2004 fantasy superserye Krystala, which was headlined by award-winning actress Judy Ann Santos, as Giwal.

Before his shocking transfer to another network in 2006, our hearts tore for his character Oman, the best friend of Sarah Geronimo’s character in the primetime drama Bituing Walang Ningning who’s secretly in love with her.

Six years after, Carlo delighted us with his return in ABS-CBN through his gigs in Wansapanataym and Maalaala Mo Kaya. It was succeeded by his special participation in Carlo J. Caparas’ Dugong Buhay and in the remake of the classic 80’s family drama Annaliza, wherein he was the antagonist Markus “Makoy” Diaz.

In 2014, we were able to see him in the Zanjoe Marudo and Jana Agoncillo-starrer Dream Dad, playing the young Eliseo Javier (Ariel Ureta). A year after, he was among the headliners of Flordeliza, which marked the teleserye comeback of Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal’s ever-popular tandem.

The year 2016 was a productive year for him as he scored two projects. He was Pocholo Rustia in We Will Survive, the love interest of Melai Cantiveros’ character, while he had a brief stint in the long-running primetime series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as a whistleblower named Marlon Aguilar.

Carlo once again showcased his dramatic chops in the 2017 afternoon drama The Better Half, as he compelled us with his portrayal of Marco Saison, a man who found himself torn between the admiration of his obsessed former secret lover Bianca (Denise Laurel) and his love for the woman he left behind Camille (Shaina Magdayao) after suffering from amnesia.

His special participation in the daytime series Playhouse probably brought nostalgia to his fans as his character Dr. Harold Miguel developed a romantic bond with female protagonist Patty, which was played by his former on-and-off-screen partner Angelica Panganiban.

And in his most recent teleserye stint, A Soldier’s Heart, he astounded us when he played the role of Abraham Kamlun, a Muslim man who chose to serve the country as a soldier.

Are you excited as us to see Carlo be in the shoes of another character? Well, you better not miss an episode of La Vida Lena beginning June 28, weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z Channel 11!
