As we see him impressively play Jordan Cabrera in the revenge-drama series La Vida Lena, we can see how Carlo Aquino has incredibly grown from being an adorable child star to becoming one of the seasoned actors in the country through the years.
But little we did know that prior to entering the local entertainment scene in 1992, he used to have a simple childhood just like most of us. In his guesting in Magandang Buhay in 2018, he revealed that everything began to change after he got discovered by a talent scout, who encouraged him to do VTRs for a commercial, when he was still a kid. He then auditioned for the youth-oriented program Ang TV, which became his stepping stone to stardom.
From considering it as mere fun and play, he divulged starting to take the craft seriously and learn to love it when he starred in the 1997 Star Cinema fantasy-drama flick “Kokey” alongside veteran actress Cherry Pie Picache.
Since then, his versatility as a teen star was further honed and highlighted as he appeared in a slew of films, such as in “Bata, Bata…Pa’no Ka Ginawa?” (1998), “Bagong Buwan” (2001), “Ang Tanging Ina” (2003), and in a string of Kapamilya teleseryes, such as G-mik (1999), Pahina (2000), Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka (2001), Berks (2002), and Krystala (2004). He also became part of the popular boy band JCS alongside John Prats and Stefano Mori and got paired with fellow teen star Angelica Panganiban, who eventually became his real-life sweetheart.
And in the recent years, we’re able to see Carlo take on various roles that definitely showcased his unmistakable versatility as an actor through his portrayals in the ABS-CBN series Annaliza (2013), FlordeLiza (2015), We Will Survive (2016), The Better Half (2017), Playhouse (2018), “Bagman Season 2” (2019), A Soldier’s Heart (2020), and several episodes of Maalaala Mo Kaya and Ipaglaban Mo.
His star also shone brighter through his remarkable performances in “Ang Tanging Ina” (2003), “Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat” (2008), “Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin (Last Na ‘To)” (2010), “Heneral Luna” (2015), “Bar Boys” (2017), “Throwback Today” (2017), “Meet Me in St. Gallen” (2018), “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” (2018), “Exes Baggage” (2018), “Ulan” (2019), and “Isa Pa With Feelings” (2019).
