Her glorious comeback as Samantha Imperial in the hit primetime series La Luna Sangre made rounds on the Internet and garnered rave reviews from avid audiences.
Prior to her current remarkable feat, Maricar Reyes-Poon has starred in innumerable projects since she rose to stardom wayback in 2008. Her first-ever role was via the Komiks Presents: Kapitan Boom where she portrayed the younger version of veteran actress Gloria Sevilla’s character. It was succeeded by a string of movie and television appearances, such as And I Love You So, Miss You Like Crazy, White House, Northern Lights: A Journey to Love, May Bukas Pa, Maalaala Mo Kaya, Lovers in Paris, Imortal, Wansapanataym, Be Careful with My Heart, Juan Dela Cruz, Honesto, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, and newly released flick Love You to the Stars and Back, to name a few. Aside from that, she also did cameo roles in some music videos such as You and I, through which she met her husband crooner Richard Poon in 2012.
Her impeccable acting flair was noticed by various award-giving bodies as she got nominated and even notched two accolades -- Cinema One Originals Film Festival Award for Best Actress where she tied with Queen of Philippine Horror Movies Lilia Cuntapay for the 2011 indie film Anatomiya ng Korapsyon and the Best New Female TV Personality recognition from PMPC Star Awards for Television for her performance in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Bud Brothers in 2009.
But before becoming an actress, Maricar used to be a commercial model, gracing the TV and print advertisements in the Philippines and across Southeast Asia. She’s doing it while taking up her Biology degree at Ateneo de Manila University and accomplishing her medical schooling at University of Santo Tomas.
Despite passing the medical licensure exam in 2008 and practicing as a general physician for about two months, she still opted to venture in show business. In one of her guestings on Magandang Buhay, the 36-year-old actress disclosed that she’s not actually considering a medical career, but she would love to do medical missions.
Wonder how she is able to maintain her glow and timeless beauty throughout the years? Perhaps, it’s because of her sunny disposition and her happy and strong married life. Besides, she also keeps herself occupied in doing the things she love, like baking for their pastry business Chocoliquor Cakes, jetsetting with her hubby, and helping others with their relationships through their joint blog Relationship Matters and book 10 Things We Fight About.
Indeed, Maricar could be our #LifeGoals!
