Whatever happened to the cast of ‘Lovers in Paris?’

Kim Jung Eun was loved much as Vivian, the star of the hit series. Her acting career started out with bit roles in shows, but come 2000s, her career picked up. Even before Lovers in Paris came to be, she was already starring in movies such as Marrying the Mafia in 2002 and Mr. Butterfly the year after. She even tried her hand at hosting her own music show, Kim Jung Eun’s Chocolate, in 2008. Eventually she went back to TV with shows such as I Am Legend, Korean Peninsula, and Ohlala Couple.

Park Shin Yang played the other half of the star-crossed lovers, Karlo. So moving was his performance in Lovers that he won several awards for it at the SBS Drama Awards, including Teen Idol of the Year and Best Actor. In 2007, the same award-giving body showered him with accolades for another television series, Money’s Warfare. He claimed the Top 10 Stars Award, Netizen’s Award, and Best Actor Award from them, plus the Best Actor Award from the 44th Paeksang Awards. Park Shin Yang put his popularity to good use when he was appointed public ambassador for Tolstoi. He has been busy starring in films such as Miss Conspirator in 2012 and Man On The Edge in 2013.

Lee Dong Gun completed the love triangle as Martin, the lover who was not meant to be. He led a double life during this time as he simultaneously played Han Dong-Joo, the lead role in another TV series, Stained Glass. His hard work paid off, though, when he was awarded the Top 10 Stars Award for both shows. He was also given the Popularity Award by the 41st Baeksang Arts Awards for Lovers and the Excellence Actor Award for Stained Glass by the SBS Awards. He took a year-long break after and jumped back to work in 2006. Lee Dong Gun has a large fan base in both Korea and Japan. In fact, his album My Biography was first released in Japan in 2008. Of the 14 tracks, two were instrumental while the remaining were split evenly between Japanese and Korean songs. He went back to acting with the series When At Night, which again garnered him awards like the Swan Award Actor in the Korea Best Dresser Awards and the Excellence Actor Award in the MBC Drama Awards. From 2010 to 2012, he took a break from his acting career in favor of serving his country in mandatory military service. While on active duty, he served at the Defense Media Agency and was appointed Honorary Ambassador of the Military. The day he was discharged, he was also appointed promotional ambassador for the 2012 Korean Formula One Grand Prix. Last 2013, Lee Dong-gun again played the lead in Marry Him If You Dare, earning him nominations for the Excellence Actor Award and Best Couple Award with Yoon Eun-Hye in the KBS Drama Awards.
