Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri and Seth Fedelin have always felt thankful for the support they receive from Gold Squad and Kadenang Ginto fans. So, this time around they are giving back by surprising 100 ABS-CBN scholars from Pulaan School at a lunch date with the network executives, parents and school representatives.
After hearing some of the students talk about how being a scholar has changed their lives, the Gold Squad took turns congratulating and praising everyone. “’Yung sarili ko, nakikita ko sa inyo,” Seth started. He too works hard not just for himself but mostly for his family—they are his priority. He then offered some advice on self-esteem because he knows what it is like to not be confident, “Ang dapat n’yong ilagay [sa isip n’yo], ‘ano ba yung gusto kong marating sa sarili ko at ano ba ‘yung gusto kong marating para sa pamilya ko.’”
Kyle added that all the scholars should definitely be proud of themselves, considering what they have achieved so far. “Napakaganda po ng ginagawa nyo ngayon. Very happy po kami para sa inyong lahat,” he admired. “Always look at the brighter side sa buhay kasi lagi naman mayroong ganoong—mga bagay na dapat ika-thankful natin,” Andrea continued. She wanted to remind everyone that all their hard work is worth it and that they should keep trusting themselves, “naniniwala ko sa inyo na kaya nyo to.”
Someone who could genuinely relate to the scholars is Francine, “’Yung tipong hindi ka papasok kasi wala kayong pera, wala kayong baon.” She applauded them for still striving in life despite all the challenges. In fact, she feels envious because there is a part of her that wants to study too. “Okay lang kung magkamali tayo kasi doon naman tayo natututo sa pagkakamali natin. And okay lang maging weak minsan kasi ‘yun naman ‘yung nagpapalaki sa atin,” she ended.
The Gold Squad also got to personally talk to some of the students. So, watch this video to hear their touching stories.
