From being stars on Kadenang Ginto to performing live on the ASAP Natin ‘To stage in San Francisco, the Gold Squad is growing fast in front and behind the cameras. So, in this vlog, Andrea Brillantes, Seth Fedelin, Francine Diaz and Kyle Echarri are working on improving their vocals prowess with the help of Mimiyuuuh.
They started off by introducing themselves in the popular Mimiyuuuh way. The two ladies nailed it thanks to their confidence. Seth was too busy staring at their guest. Meanwhile, the former The Voice Kids finalist received some constructive criticism.
They then warmed up by saying the very official music term “vocalizationism” three times while making funny faces. “Kasi nafi-feel mo na ‘yung mga notes. Pumapasok na sa’yo ‘yung mga notes,” Mimiyuuuh explained. Because they are the Gold Squad, the YouTube star prepared a special ‘vocalizationism’ exercise. “Au” is the symbol for gold in the periodic table, so they used the sound of these letters.
Eventually, it was time for the boys to learn how to sing “Dahil Sa ‘Yo” by Iñigo Pascual. Although, Seth decided to try beatboxing. “Wala kong beatboxing lessons,” Mimiyuuuh warned. They then moved on to properly expressing the different emotions of the lyrics. “Ang bilis n’yo kasi kumanta. Bagalan n’yo. ‘Yan ang mali sa inyo,” Mimiyuuuh commented. So, he taught them the right pace so that listeners can understand the words.
Moving on to the girls, their piece is “Hawak Kamay” by Yeng Constantino. Apparently, there is a secret meaning to the song. “Nandidiri kayo sa mga kasama n’yo,” Mimiyuuuh revealed that this is not about literally holding hands. The internet sensation also commented that they needed more “kulot”, five G clefs to be exact. Finally, Andrea and Francine learned how to whistle while maintaining eye contact.
What scores did Mimiyuuuh give the Gold Squad? “Minsan ‘yung grading depende rin sa ganda ‘yun,” he explained the reason for why Andrea got the highest score. Check out this video because you might learn a thing or two as well!
