Francine Diaz may be young, but she has consistently proven as Cassie on Kadenang Ginto that she has what it takes to steal the spotlight. So, it is no surprise that she signed a two-year contract with the Kapamilya Network, last June 10 (Monday).
This is great news to her fans, but before she can get in character in front of the cameras, she first needs to get to ABS-CBN! How will she do it? With only 100 pesos in her pocket, Francine will have to travel from Antipolo to ABS-CBN in the 100 Peso Commute Challenge!
“Bago tayo bumiyahe dapat busog ka. Hindi pwedeng gutom,” she started off her journey. That is your first tip: never travel with an empty stomach. If you only have 100 pesos, a quick snack should be enough. In Francine’s case, she settled for one of her favorite street foods—kwek kwek! “Natatakot akong bilanging [‘yung sukli],” was her immediate reaction after paying for the three pieces of kwek kwek. “Dapat magbaon kayo ng tubig n’yo,” she suggested next to save up some extra cash.
“Napakalaking challenge. Pwede bang kumain na lang ako araw-araw,” she wished after her long walk to the jeepney terminal. Once there, she took advantage of the student discount. From 34 pesos, she only paid 28 to get to her stop which is Cubao. During the ride, she made a friend because Cassie is that friendly. Sitting next to Francine is Sally who is on her way to Quiapo. The 48-year-old advised the young actress to look out for Ali Mall because that means she is already in Cubao.
When she got off, it was lightly drizzling. So, another tip: always bring an umbrella because rain or shine an umbrella is your best shield against the weather. Her next stop is Quezon Boulevard and her mode of transportation this time is the bus. Do not forget, take advantage of your discounts! From 13 pesos, she only paid 10.
At the last stretch of her journey, all that was left was a quick tricycle ride to ABS-CBN. “Hindi ko na kailangan magtanong,” she celebrated. In the end, she still had 33 pesos left.
