After more than a decade of being together, seasoned host, dance idol and comedian Vhong Navarro and longtime non-showbiz girlfriend Tanya Winona Bautista finally tied the knot on Thursday, November 28, in an intimate wedding ceremony held in Kyoto, Japan.
Among those who witnessed their sweet exchange of “I dos” were their family, friends, and colleagues, including Vhong’s It’s Showtime family who tagged their real-life partners along with them.
While the couple didn’t previously divulge the exact date of the nuptials, both of them posted a slew of cinematic photos on their respective Instagram accounts on November 27. The snaps presented the couple well-dressed as they struck various poses in different scenic spots in Vietnam – at the Golden Hand Bridge in Da Nang and the Fairy River in Phan Thiet – hinting that their highly anticipated marriage would come sooner than we thought.
And in the afternoon of November 28, Vhong’s It’s Showtime co-host Kim Atienza delighted his followers when he uploaded on IG a very short clip taken from a ceremony, wherein Tanya was spotted being ushered by her two of her loved-ones down the aisle going to the altar where Vhong was happily waiting. While the scene was supposed to be fleeting, it instantly turned into comical as the groom tried to kiss his bride before being proclaimed as husband and wife and being told to do so by the presider. Thus, Kuya Kim captioned it: “MAMAYA PA YAN VHONG”, tagging the couple and affixing the hashtag #teenadhanakayvhong.
At the same time, events coverage service provider Metrophoto also released a behind-the-scenes video of their pre-nuptial shoot on their YouTube Channel.
It can be recalled that Vhong and Tanya met on the set of the 2008 romantic-comedy flick “My Only U,” wherein he was the leading man of Toni Gonzaga while she was among the screenwriters. Seemingly, destiny intervened as the actor’s name in the movie was “Bong” while Toni’s character was named “Winona”.
As he reminisced the first crossing of their paths and to mark their anniversary in 2016, he posted the poster of the film on IG, replacing Toni’s face with Tanya’s and wrote in the caption:
"First time ko gumawa ng movie na RomCom, dito ko nakilala ang babaeng nag-aalaga, nagpapasaya at nagmamahal sakin nang sobra sobra! Kaya ang title na "My Only U" ay nababagay sayo @t.winona (Tanya) dahil nag-iisa ka lang na gumawa nyan sa buong buhay ko. Mahal na mahal kita! Happy Anniversary!"
Congrats and best wishes, Vhong and Tanya!
