Vhong Navarro and Ogie Alcasid got funny for funds!
It’s Showtime contributes to ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s recovery efforts for Typhoon Odette victims via online benefit show aptly titled “It’s Sharetime,” which is still part of the “Tulong-Tulong Sa Pag-Ahon: Isang Daan Sa Pagtutulungan” campaign that aims to provide food, clean water, as well as hygiene and home repair kits for families affected by the calamity.
Vhong and Ogie, together with guest artist Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, who was there throughout the 2-hour show to support her husband, kicked off the 10-day event. The LOL and love shined through as they took on song requests, games, and trending challenges while urging Kapamilyas to donate via live streaming app KUMU and other platforms.
The It’s Showtime family is no stranger to giving back. Their charity works continue to this day besides the generous amount of laughter they share with the ‘madlang people,’ which is why Ogie feels blessed to be part of the group. He said he’s grown closer with his co-hosts and the staff since joining the program last November, “It’s a really, really beautiful family. Napakasarap magtrabaho, pumasok araw-araw. Para kang hindi nagtatrabaho.”
“Para kang ginugulpi,” he quipped, pertaining to their skits and ‘kulitan’ moments that sometimes go a little physical in the name of fun.
Vhong, in turn, appreciates the vibrant energy Ogie and even his wife Regine brought into their family, “Sobrang saya! Sobrang pinagaan ni Kuya Ogie ‘yung pagpasok niya sa Showtime. Ang dami niyang naitulong. Ang dami niya naambag.” He discovered how big-hearted the couple is, “Dito ko rin napatunayan ‘yung totoong kalooban ni Kuya Ogie at Ate Reg kasi pinaramdam nila sa akin na ang pamilya ay pamilya. Walang halong echos, napakabait ng dalawang ‘to.”
Vhong also shared that the hosts and crew bond over basketball games to prepare for the upcoming Star Magic games.
The fun started with Vhong, Ogie, and Regine dancing to “Boom Shaka Laka” and “Paru-Paro G.”
They also took on the challenge to re-enact popular movie scenes but with a twist. The comedy duo copied Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil’s “Pangit ba ako” scene from “My Ex and Whys” pretending they’re drunk. Then, Vhong, as if he’s holding his bathroom urge, delivered Kim Chiu’s memorable “Shinota mo ako” dialogue from “Paano Na Kaya” while Ogie took on Gerald Anderson’s spot. The last clip was from “Paano Kita Iibigin” featuring Regine and her leading man Piolo Pascual.
Next, the translation challenge wherein one of them sings a Tagalog song while the other translates every line into English. Vhong translated “Ikaw Sana” in the first round while Ogie went through Yeng Congstantino’s “Ikaw” later on.
Ogie also granted netizen’s most requested song “Don’t Know What to Do.” At the same time, Vhong surprised fans who wished to see him groove to his novelty hits, as well as his group Streetboys’ signature dance tracks “Lick It” and “True.” The fun continued with them dancing to “Clap Snap” and Vhong showing off his rap skills.
