Team Vice and Tyang Amy amazed and struck us to the core with their awe-inspiring number on the second day of Magpasikat 2018.
Audiences were welcomed to a sketchy classroom set-up in stark black and white, which can be compared to the illustrations we usually see in children’s coloring books, with Tyang Amy Perez and Hashtag McCoy de Leon pantomiming as a teacher and the young Vice Ganda respectively, while a recorded audio of their dialogue was played.
As they talked about the wildest dreams of the young icon, Amy handed McCoy a magical crayon that could put dashes of color to every spot it touched and even opened a secret portal popping in colors, which seemingly depicted his freedom to express his real identity as part of the LGBTQ community. He did this through a brief interpretative dance to the song “Thunderclouds” by LSD (Labrinth, Sia, and Diplo) with the colorfully clad GirlTrend Mikee Agustin.
He was then transported to a different dimension, in which he was able to encounter and play with his “ambitions” – astronaut (with Hashtag Wilbert Ross in a shiny silver spacesuit), ballerina (with GirlTrend Krissha Viaje in a fuchsia tutu dress), and superhero (with Hashtag Luke Conde in a blue body-hugging costume) – on a huge trampoline.
Then, the scene went back to the classroom, where McCoy was seen drawing a figure of a faceless woman in a voluminous dress on the whiteboard. Suddenly, Vice Ganda appeared on the screen as he took on the center stage in a white gown and belted out Sia’s “The Greatest.” Afterwards, water showered on the Unkabogable Star, whose immaculately white frock got splattered with colors, spangled with stars, and emblazoned with the words “creativity”, “imagination”, and “fantastic” as it got drenched.
The stirring presentation concluded in the heartwarming appearances of his beloved teacher who inspired him to never stop chasing his dreams and his young self (depicted by McCoy) who seemed to be proud of what he has become in the present.
Vice’s mommy Rosario was also on hand to support him and applaud his team’s impressive act.
Team Vice-Tyang Amy’s inspiring and dreamy 2018 number is not only a great reminder for us to always believe in ourselves and the power of our dreams, but also a touching tribute to those people who firmly supported and motivated us in pursuing our far-flung ambitions in life.
