But more so, happiness filled the hearts of the It’s Showtime family, as we witnessed how hosts Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Karylle, Jugs Jugueta, and Teddy Corpuz, together with Jackque Gonzaga and Ion Perez, cherished their first time on stage after their long absence.
The comeback is real, as one netizen pointed out, and the It’s Showtime family is definitely enjoying each moment.
Their first live episode since March started with a scintillating opening number, with Vhong and Jhong gyrating with their pulsating dance moves to a pumped up version of Apo Hiking Society’s “Do Bidoo.” Tyang Amy Perez and Ryan Bang would stream their own dance steps, with Jackque and Ion performing onstage, to the tune of Kim Chiu’s “Bawal Lumabas.”
Karylle. Jugs and Teddy would then belt out their version of Hale’s “Kahit Pa,” with Vice taking the spotlight with the final solo number, singing December Avenue’s “Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-Ibig”.
Then all the hosts would gather onstage for the finale in production number, singing the Eraserheads’ “Alapaap” and Alamid’s “Sama-Sama” before performing the It’s Showtime theme, which definitely left the Madlang People sentimental.
Vice and the hosts would then turn emotional with the show’s return despite the many trials it faced.
The COVID-19 pandemic also made the production adjust to the new normal, with the hosts wearing their protective face shields throughout the show, and also introduce new segments and reformatted present contests to respond and adjust to the current situation.
Its first game, “Pamilyanario,” the Brito family were chosen by their barangay captain in Barangay 179, Amparo, Caloocan City to join the contest because of their selfless service to the community. In the fun, exciting game, they won Php65,000.
The return of Tawag Ng Tanghalan followed, which now featured two rounds of performances from two contenders representing barangays from around the country. First was the conventional sing-offs and the second, having to choose from a selection of tunes to sing on the spot. After singing James Ingram’s “There’s No Easy Way” in the first round, and selecting Orient Pearl’s “Pagsubok” in the second, fish vendor Rommel Arellano of Barangay Bawi, Padre Garcia, Batangas City emerged as the day’s winner.
A first-ever job applicant search on noontime TV was featured next on “1ted: Now Hiring,” which provides employment opportunities for select “Applicandidates.” In this day’s search, Tawag Ng Tangalan hurado and Magandang Buhay momshie Karla Estrada used the segment to look for a new office secretary for her chain of salons. After a series of challenges between two contenders, Karla selected and hired Applicandidate Katherine Silverio of Paranaque City, who also won a Php50,000 bonus.
Definitely, It’s Showtime’s glorious return offered the same fun, hilarious banters from hosts, with new challenging and relevant segments to delight and bring relief and aid to Madlang People affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
