Whenever we hear the theme song of It’s Showtime, we always feel much excitement and joy. We all have been watching the show for nine years because when we do, we feel like we have no worries at all because the people, most especially the hosts, would make us feel like it.
But It’s Showtime is not always about the laughter and the jokes. There are times when it moves us to tears and touches our hearts. Let us take a look back at some of the most memorable tear-jerking episodes of It’s Showtime.
1. The other side of Cherie Gil
When we talk about kontrabidas or the famous line “You’re nothing but a second rate, trying hard copycat,” we talk about the country’s Primera Kontrabida Cherie Gil. Most of the time, we’d watch her as the main antagonist in a teleserye, but in this episode of It’s Showtime, we saw how a kontrabida can be a soft and an appreciative person in real life. She shared to us her thoughts about what she can leave behind in the industry aside from her famous line as she thanked Vice Ganda for letting her get to know the comedian host in the “deepest, most real sense” of his being, as what she said.
2. What matters most
A lot of us might have probably been always conscious of what others have to say about us but Amy Perez and Vice Ganda told us a few but powerful words to actually make us realize that what matters the most is how God sees the purity in our intentions. Needless to say, the most important thing is how we take time to enjoy our lives - even if it means changing and improving some things about us.
3. Vice’s favorite teacher
Vice Ganda might have made you remember your favorite high school teacher in this episode when he expressed his gratitude towards Mrs. Cañares, his English teacher in first year high school. Vice Ganda proudly shared to everyone how his teacher became his inspiration in always striving to be the best.
4. Gift from heaven
‘A gift from heaven’ were the words used by a mother from the audience in talking about his son who was one of the contestants. She shared how she uplifted the morale of his son who experienced failures back then. We really need those words especially in times when we feel down in life.
5. Big role
During Amy Perez’s birthday celebration last September, it was not only her who was put into tears but also her co-host Vhong Navarro who revealed how Tyang Amy actually played a big role in extending his dad’s life.
6. Solving personal issues
In one of Advice Ganda episodes, Vice Ganda himself became emotional as he admitted how he unconsciously solves his personal issues while giving advices to people. In the same episode, he apologized to his mom for not being able to lend time to her. And when Vice said it, we all sure felt it.
7. Happy for Vhong
Friendship is one the things almost everyone can relate to. In this episode, Vice Ganda returns to It’s Showtime and he expressed how great he felt to see his friend and co-host Vhong become happy again and make other people happy as well. And that showed us all the truth that we can be happy just as long as our friends are happy and doing good in life.
8. A father’s sacrifice
Anne Curtis was touched by the story of a father from the audience who will do everything and indeed sacrifice a lot just to make his family happy and provide for them - just like what every parent will do to their children and family.
9. Mom journey
Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla became emotional as she shared to all of us her journey as a mother and how it has been so far the best experience of her life. To all the moms - either working moms or stay-at-home moms, Mariel gives all her respect and admiration. She described motherhood as “a very difficult but the most rewarding job ever.”
10. Hardworking Anne
We heard from Jhong Hilario how Anne Curtis stood as the breadwinner of her family ever since she was young. Jhong said that he knows how Anne worked so hard for herself and her family and that she deserves all the happiness in the world.
11. Vhong’s return
The moment Vhong Navarro returned to It’s Showtime after a month or so of being gone is a very sentimental and emotional moment for him, for the whole family of It’s Showtime, and most especially for the fans. The host, who was in tears, expressed his appreciation to all those who messaged, tweeted, and prayed for him after facing the most terrible moment in his life.
12. How trials make us stronger
Not all the difficulties and hardships thrown to us exist to make us any less of a person or to make us weaker. Vice Ganda told us in this episode how these trials exist to make us even stronger. Most of the time, he said, we actually become too dazzled of our achievements that we overlook the things that really matter, the things that are valuable.
