Ever since she joined the gregarious and ever-growing family of It’s Showtime in January 2016, Amy Perez has indeed brought a different flavor and vibe to the noontime program.
Being the eldest and regarded as the tiya or aunt of the squad, thus fondly called “Tyang Amy”, she’s always there to remind her co-hosts to play fair and be nice to one another, especially Vhong Navarro and Vice Ganda, every time they play tricks on or prank each other.
Yet, even though she’s the most ahead of age – looking fabulous at 51 years old! – Amy is still able to keep pace with the kakulitan of her younger co-hosts by playing along to their antics.
In an episode of the Hide & Sing segment, Tyang Amy scolded his fellow emcees Kim Chiu and Karylle for committing mistakes in their short dance number. She also shared some funny moments with Vhong and Jhong Hilario, such as when she enthusiastically accepted the fun challenge they posed for her during in a episode of Tawag Ng Tanghalan that made it hard for her to stand up from kneeling and when Vhong noticed how similar her outfit was in one of the contestants of the FieSTAR segment.
Apart from her versatility as a host, she also astonished us with her dancing prowess and other hidden talents that she was able to unleash in production numbers including her, in her Magpasikat performances, as well as in various TikTok dance challenges.
Moreover, Tyang Amy also refused to back down from the ridiculous and challenging FUNishments when it was her turn to be the “Tumpak Tracer”. She prank called her beloved husband Carlo, used a permanent marker to draw on her eyebrows while blindfolded, ate chichaworm while doing TikTok, and submerging herself in a drum of soil and letting herself be watered and fed with bread as acted as a plant.
But more than being an incredible and unparalleled host and impressive performer, Tyang Amy is admired by her It’s Showtime family for being a source of love and support behind the camera.
Vice compared her to an “arinola”, who relentlessly gave him comfort and instant relief every time he’s in trouble, when he uttered his poignant message for her on her birthday.
Maraming salamat for being one of my best friends, one of my sisters, one of my parents, and one those people who really love me genuinely,” the Unkabogable Star said.
Meanwhile, Vhong went emotional as he expressed his gratitude to Tyang Amy for helping extend the life of his now deceased father.
Indeed, her personality and experience add to the fun dynamic among the It’s Showtime hosts!
