Exclusive Interview with Kim Hewitt

Just when he thought the game was really over for him when he lost in the earlier part of the competition, but Kim Hewitt was given a second chance in the running and absolutely did not disappoint.

As a resbaker or wildcard contestant, the little pride of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental made sure to not waste the opportunity by delivering better performances that paved the way for him to the Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids Season 2: Ang Huling Tapatan held on Saturday, April 20, in which he emerged as the grand winner.

He impressed the hurados with his emotive interpretation of the classic hit “Too Much Love Will Kill You” by Brian May of the iconic British band Queen in the first round of the “Huling Tapatan,” then further amazed them in the second round with his soulful take on Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing,” which was also sung by first TNT Kids winner Jhon Clyd Talili in 2017.

Kim’s latter performance received a score of 96.7%, besting his Final 3 contenders Dylan Genicera and Aliyah Quijoy whose renditions of “Tao” by Sampaguita and “Lupa” by Aegis garnered scores of 96.6% and 96.5%, respectively.

As the grand champion, he took home a trophy, a talent management contract with ABS-CBN Music Management Group, a P300,000 home and learning showcase, and a P500,000 cash prize.

When asked what he’s going to do with his winnings, Kim told ent.abs-cbn.com that he will allot it to the place where his family will live while staying here in Manila.

Kim revealed that it was hurado Frenchie Dy who’s his inspiration for his performance since she was among his favorite judges in the entire competition, so he apparently made sure to impress her. Meanwhile, it’s to his beloved mother to whom he dedicates his win since she has supported him and helped him a lot.

With regard to his preparations for his performances in the grand finals, the talented young boy disclosed he just kept on practicing and repeated the process over and over again day after day.

And lastly, for his message to all his fans and supporters, Kim stated, “Follow your dreams, everyone. Follow your dreams.”
