TNT 6 Winner Lyka Estrella Interview

Her journey did not come easy but Lyka Estrella proved that no dream is impossible to achieve. Despite having limited time to prepare for the final showdown, she was hailed as the champion of Tawag Ng Tanghalan Ika-6 Na Taon, the singing competition’s longest season, on It’s Showtime.

Lyka was the last contender to join the line-up of grand finalists, Friday, May 5. Many might have thought the ‘resbaker’ from Gen San was ‘disadvantaged,’ as she had to immediately battle it out in the three-round “Huling Tapatan” the next day, May 6.

Netizens even dubbed her “ang babeng walang pahinga.” Yet, her vocal prowess remained consistent, and so was her perseverance and eagerness to clinch the title, evident in her ‘birit’ rendition of “Ngayon at Kailanman” in the solo round where she made the judges stand up from their seats and give her rounds of applause.

In the next round, she was joined by ‘hurado’ Klarisse de Guzman on stage in the singing of “Dream.” The songstress delivered a concert-like performance with a medley of Jessie J’s songs in the final portion, again, earning a standing ovation from the judges.  She emerged as the champion after scoring 98.9 percent.

Moments after her victory, Lyka granted a short interview with ent.ABS-CBN.com, in which she revealed her plans after her TNT journey. On top of her list is to celebrate with her family and express gratitude to God and her supporters. The diva also imparted that she held on to her family, friends, and faith for motivation.

“Sa mga fans ko, sa mga supporters ko, thank you so much everyone. I love you and sana magkita-kita tayo soon,” she expressed when asked for a message to everyone who believed in her talent.

As the winner, she got 1 million pesos, a house and lot, and recording and management contracts. “Ang unang-una kong gagawin ko sa prize ay magbi-build ako ng business kasi ‘yung life natin is up and down,” she said.

Congratulations, Lyka!
