Vice Ganda and her teammates Jackie Gonzaga and Cianne Dominguez warmed viewers’ hearts with an all-in-one production number about dreams, on It’s Showtime’s November 9 episode as part of the noontime program’s 14th-anniversary Magpasikat week. Jackie and Cianne talked to ent.abs-cbn.com about their performance. Check out the video!
Making her “Magpasikat” debut, Cianne, who started as a Sexy Babe contestant, says she feels overwhelmed and extremely happy to have performed in the annual talent showdown among the hosts for the first time, let alone to have Vice Ganda and Jackie as teammates.
She further revealed that their futuristic presentation wherein they looked back on their individual dreams wasn’t their original plan. They initially conceptualized a Barbie-themed spectacle, which was axed due to licensing limitations. From there, they thought every Barbie has her individual ambition, and eventually came up with the idea of tackling their childhood dreams and how life had taken them to different paths.
Since their solo acts are hinged on their personal journey, Cianne, and also Jackie, shared that they kept themselves motivated by honoring their original dreams. As Jackie puts it, “Hinugot ‘yun sa sarili kong story, ‘yung hindi ko nga na-fulfil ‘yung dream ko no’ng bata ako tapos iba ‘yung kinapuntahan kong path compared sa dream ko nu’ng bata. Doon hinuhugot ‘yung, ‘hindi man ako naging flight attendant pero lumilipad ako sa ere. Parang I’m flying like a bird pero in terms of pagsasayaw na lang.”
Asked about the challenges they encountered, Cianne, who sang while lifted mid-air via harness, mentioned that they didn’t have much problem during rehearsals apart from fighting through exhaustion.
On the contrary, Jackie was admittedly challenged by her aerial dance training, “Ang dami talagang kalaban do’n. ‘Yung stride kasi nando’n na ‘yun, talagang paghihirapan mo. Tapos ‘yung hilo sa ikot, as in unang training ko talaga, nagsusuka talaga ako sa hilo sa ikot na ‘yun kasi ‘yun ang pinaka-highlight.” According to Jackie, she started training for her aerial dance in September, “So talagang isa siyang mahabang proseso na mahirap pero talagang worth it dahil nagawa at nabigay natin ‘yun,” she smiled and expressed gratitude to God.
If they were to rate their group performance from 1 to 10, of course, considering the amount of effort, heart, and soul they poured, they believe they deserve 1,000 or even 10,000 points.
Will Jackie, Cianne, and Vice Ganda emerge as Magpasikat 2023 champions?
