For more than 14 years, It’s Showtime has indeed filled our noontime with good vibes and laughter through the comedic chops and unmistakable chemistry of its hosts. However, as we all know, it’s not only fun and games on the show for we have also witnessed several crying moments, particularly when the “Expecially For You” segment was launched. Let’s look back on those iyakan moments in this Kapamilya Toplist feature!
Starting off this list is that instance when Vice Ganda got emotional as searcher Jules recounted how her ex-boyfriend Joshua took good care of her when they were still together. The Unkabogable host expressed, “Ang sarap lang sa feeling na ma-realize mo na, ‘Ay, sa puntong ‘to may nag-aalaga na sa akin. ‘Di ba, ang saya lang, no’n?”
Vice then gave searcher Sharmaine a warm embrace and told her that she admires her as she conveyed that she’s still in love with her ex Andrei, yet she supports him in pursuit of finding new love. It might be painful for her, but she agreed to share their love story with the world in order to remind the madlang people that it’s not easy to enter a relationship, especially if they’re not ready to commit to another person. Sharmaine also received a hug from Karylle, who was also misty-eyed while listening to their story.
The Unkabogable host did the same to searcher Mickey as she tearfully imparted wanting to save her relationship with Ken, but he was already keen to call it quits because of the pain inflicted on him by what had happened to them.
From being behind the camera, It’s Showtime staff member Grasya found herself in the hot seat of “Expecially For You” alongside her ex-girlfriend Celine. She wasn’t able to keep herself from crying as she candidly confessed that she was actually not okay and that she felt sorry for herself for being the person who is liked yet not pursued.
Pero hindi totoong hindi ka ka-pursue-pursue, hindi ka ka-take-take ng risk, at hindi ka kamahal-mahal. You are worth it,” Vice assured her.
Searcher Angelo wasn’t able to keep his emotions as he delivered his parting words to his ex-girlfriend Gezzle. He told her how much he missed her and how he wished for their friendship to continue in spite of what happened to them. And the feeling seems to be mutual as Gezzle also misses him not as a partner, but as a friend.
Upon hearing the confession of her ex-boyfriend Lyndon that he developed feelings toward another woman while they were still in a relationship, searcher Dess wasn’t able to hold her tears because of how hurtful and appalling it was. Lyndon also got emotional as he expressed how ashamed and apologetic he was of what he had done to her.
Two years after their break-up and not seeing each other, searcher Lester admitted that his feelings for his ex-girlfriend seemed to have been rekindled. He conveyed how sorry he was for all his wrongdoings and how he regretted taking her for granted and letting her go. Lester further cried as Irish said that she no longer wanted to get back to him, as well as when he asked searchee Ace to take good care of her. He continued to ugly cry as he watched Irish and Ace talk onstage, which affected Vice, too.
However, it wasn’t only the searchers or Vice who only got emotional in “Expecially For You,” but the other hosts, too.
Anne Curtis wasn’t able to hold back her tears as she listened to the heartfelt exchange of ex-couple Azie and Errolle and witnessed them hug one another.
Karylle also requested the madlang people to not judge searcher Fe as she looks for a new flame just a couple of years after her husband died and give her another shot at happiness and love. Vice seconded by saying how each one of us has different timelines, as well as coping mechanisms in life when it comes to grief.
Since she just came from a heartbreak, Kim also wasn’t able to contain her emotions as she expressed, “Lahat ng nangyayari sa buhay natin hindi naman ‘yon by chance or by accident. Lahat naman ng nangyayari sa buhay natin is written and ginawa na ‘yon bago pa man tayo ipinanganak. So, mas madaling tanggapin ang lahat ng bagay.”
