In light of the ninth anniversary celebration of It's Showtime and to give way to the lengthy Magpasikat production numbers of the five groups each day, Miss Q & A Intertalaktic 2019 was put to a rest for a week.
Thus, we we're all surprised when the segment was aired this Saturday, prior to the announcement of this year's Magpasikat winners. Heightening our befuddlement was when its hosts Anne Curtis and Vice Ganda introduced Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla and Amy Perez as mentors of that episode's set of contestants, which was totally new to the avid viewers. Besides, they also rehashed it to Miss Q & A AnniBEKSary Special.
As we anticipate for three legit gays or transgenders to sashay on the makeshift platform, we were all astonished to see five of the male hosts of the noontime program looking utterly sophisticated in their shimmering long gowns and neatly-fixed wigs.
The first to step on the stage was Jugs Jugueta in a bob coif and shiny blue frock, presenting himself as Juggy Sta. Maria.
He was followed by Hashtag member Nikko Natividad who went by the name Nicole Bermuda. He alighted from a motorcycle and strutted in a peach gown and wavy locks.
Both of them were under the intensive guidance of Tyang Amy Perez.
Next was Teddy Corpuz a.k.a Ilongna Tolentino, who stepped out from the backstage with a team of dudes donning basketball jerseys and parading in his glittery sweetheart black gown and black long wig.
Everyone were stunned when Hashtag Kid Yambao made a grand entrance by being seated on a cozy chair carried by hunk models. He was truly mesmerizing as Kid Kardashian, wearing a long blond 'do and powder pink dress.
Last but definitely not the least was Alakdawn Zulueta, portrayed by Jhong Hilario, who was ushered by three rebel-looking men. He wowed everyone with his striking beauty, highlighted by his strong makeup, curly coif, and baby blue gown with long train.
Mariel served as their hands-on coach.
Ilongna and Nicole bagged the Beks in Chukchak Award for their witty and winning introductions.
Our stomachs went numb after laughing out loud because of their funny antics and banters, particularly in their answers and explanations to the question regarding the ingredients of Chicken Chopsuey, during their warm-up for the Ibi-Gay Mo Na portion. In the end, Ilongna wasn't able to make it the next round after losing his chance to steal. In the next stage dubbed Tum-Pak Ganern, Nicole failed to proceed to the next part.
The remaining three participants faced off in the BekLavan, with Alakdawn embodying a nurturing mom, Kid as Invisible Man, and Juggy as ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo L. Katigbak. The Madlang People favored Kid, which gave him the opportunity to choose the question he wanted to answer. Juggy failed to move on to the next portion.
In the final stage, called the Beklamation, Kid and Alakdawn showcased their wit in responding to the question about the realizations they acquired as "loyal viewers" of It's Showtime.
It was Alakdawn’s retort that won the nods of the panel of judges, comprised of Karylle, Miss Q & A 2018 first runner-up Matrica Mae "Matmat" Centino, Miss Q & A 2018 Grand Winner Juliana Parizcova Segovia, Miss Q & A 2018 second runner-up Lars Pacheco, and Vhong Navarro, who as “President Ganda” mimicked the iconic athleisure get-up of Vice Ganda.
Congrats, Jhong, err, Alakdawn Zulueta!
